Its seems police is fueling all this. There was no protest at all from these people when Kashmiris were under siege, without medicine or work and money.
Its not religious solidarity based protest, since there were none for kashmir (at least not a major one) more like they are afraid for themselves in one way or other or just angry at india or simply feel like a community by being part of such protests.
I guess they protest where they feel ethnically and racially more attached to or where there is no india vs Pakistan in the picture.
still see how long this one last. Or it is anger due to some other reasons being displaced via this issue, fearing if they did not do something, things will get worse for them?
On facebooks pages people from Rohilla pashtuns areas or those who claim from mughals/arabs etc having respective surnames (i.e. dehli areas) seems to be very active. These people are minority however. A small minority compared to rest of indian muslim populations. Majority of indians are ethnic indians with strong loyalties and attatchements to their respective communities regardless of religion and will unlikely to protest for anything for long if at all. We must never forget that. Apart from asam, rest are pretty calm.
Nothing is as wide spread yet as it seems here.
Next few weeks will reveal the clear picture.
If indian muslims genuinly fear for themselves under modi, may be protests will increase. Its all depends on modi now and it seems he is bent on fueling all this. May be he is given some assessments that all this can be controlled and contained. We will see how accurate those assessments are.
Modi's policies will fuel all this. Whether the indian muslims will accept or ultimately reject those policies depends on their attatchement to india as their country, their loyalties to their respective ethnicities and level of their individual fears and anger that needs venting. Next few weeks will clarify the picture.
