Jamaat-ud-Dawa stages rallies in support of ISI
Shujaat, Elahi will hold countrywide protests, says PML-Q Punjab leader Zaheeruddin
LAHORE: Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) Wednesday held rallies across the country in support of the army and the ISI and against the Geo News / Jang Group.
In Chichawatni, the JuD took out a rally which culminated outside the local press club. The participants carried placards inscribed with slogans in favour of the ISI and the army. Local leaders in their speeches demanded closure of Geo News and daily Jang while accusing them of being anti-state.
They said criticising the armed forces and weakening the defence of Pakistan had been an agenda of the country’s enemies. They vowed they would not allow the conspiracies by the US and India against the Pakistan’s armed forces.
They said the propaganda against the ISI was a conspiracy against the country. The Indian and Israeli agenda was being promoted in Pakistan under which an attempt had been made to discredit the army. The JuD organised rallies in other cities and towns as well.
In Pakpattan, the Ghalla Mandi traders held a rally which was led by their representatives. During the rally, the representative of a TV channel, Sheikh Munir, and others were holding placards against the Geo News and Jang Group.
Meanwhile in Lahore, PML-Q Punjab General Secretary Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, while addressing a ceremony organised by the party’s labour wing, said Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervaiz Elahi would soon hold rallies across Pakistan to express solidarity with the army.
He added that the media group, which never aired a three-second free of cost, showed news against the ISI chief for eight hours continuously. It was tantamount to insulting the ISI, security institutions and the nation, he opined.
Meanwhile, the Jang Group spokesman has already said several times that it has leveled no allegation against armed forces or ISI with regard to the attack on Geo anchor Hamid Mir. It was the stand of the family of Hamid Mir that was aired by Geo along with ISPR statement. Nothing was ever said against the armed forces on Geo. The Jang Group respects armed forces from the core of its heart.
The armed forces have rendered many sacrifices for the sake of the country. These were particular people on other channels who were asked to mention the name of armed forces in their propaganda to distract the attention from the real issue.
The Geo also did not mention ISI as an institution. The statement of the family of Hamid Mir just mentioned some individuals. The spokesman said the defence ministry had sent allegations against the Jang Group to Pemra.
The people, he said, should show patience and wait for final decision. Such allegations were also leveled in the past against different people and organs but were hardly proved in courts.
