Jaitley likely to skip Saarc meet in Islamabad

With India's relations with Pakistan touching a new low, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is likely to give a miss to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) Finance Ministers' meet in Islamabad scheduled for August 25-26.

"Ultimately, it is the government's decision whether the Finance Minister goes to Islamabad or not. But so far, he is not likely to go. I think this is one way to snub Pakistan," Bharatiya Janata Party National Secretary Sidharth Nath Singh told IANS on Tuesday.

The possibility arises after Home Minister Rajnath Singh was given a cold shoulder by Pakistan authorities when he visited Pakistan this month to attend the SaarcHome/Interior Ministers' conference.

On Tuesday, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar compared Pakistan with hell.

"Going to Pakistan and going to hell is the same thing," Parrikar said in Rewari in Haryana. He did not elaborate.

India has been accusing Pakistan of fanning unrest in the Kashmir Valley in the wake of 22-year-old Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani being killed in a gun battle with security forces on July 8.

In the ensuing violence, 65 persons have died and around 5,000 injured in clashes between protesters and security forces. Pakistan has been trying to draw international attention to the issue, and India has accused it of fomenting unrest in the valley.

Jaitley should stay home. No point going to a place who treat their guests so rudely. Ungracious hosts.

. .
Rajnath ny panga liya tha! So Ch Nisar replied him in same manner. It is a reality that Indians treat all South Asian countries as their dummy states. Pakistan is never going to accept this hegemony!

. . .
Good riddance. Please dont come. You are not welcome anyway.

.
pakistan basically behaved like a douche on national level during rajnat visit.
no need to go to a place where they dont respect their guests.
Raj nath was govt's guest and he was national level guest, personal guest will be respected such as bolly wood stars.
How many bolly wood stars has visited Pakistan? ask from them.

with all due respect backing from Diplomatic forums has never yielded anything
India is on Backfoot due to Rajnaths exit which was shameful for India
but Indian think that due to their economic might they are superior most in SAARC or anywhere and can behave like supa powa

well its their perspective
i m gonna sit and watch what happens remember modi had to visit Lahore after backing from secretary level meetings and had to assemble NSA meetings in bangkok as well

. .
Yeah please dont. Nobody is going to miss A holes like you.

.
SAARC needs to be wound down. So far it has been pretty useless organization.

BBIN can take care of regional issues.

We actually get stuff done with BBIN, BIMSTEC + Sri Lanka ECTA ....no one to throw a spanner in the works and drag things out for decades on end.

We will reach Afghanistan through Iran and deal bilaterally. Things are looking on the up.

SAARC can die a slow painful death for all we care.

Its just an excuse for some hot lunches, tea and some photos. Nothing gets done or signed because of one country refusing MFN to India and continuing this philosophy to everything else that SAARC was supposed to cover.

The one major agreement we will honour with you is bilateral and its the Simla Agreement. Everything else will have to spring from that for there to be movement between us. Its really that simple.
