J-20B (FC-20B) news

Maybe China's quantum tech has sped up their 6th gen fighter program to 2019? If so, then giving 5th gen fighters to Pakistan wouldn't really be a problem now would it?

.
I'm preeeeety sure that the j-20 and fc-20 aren't the same thing. The fc-20 is a J-10 variant, not a j-20 variant.

@waz can you please fix the title? There is no evidence to support it.

India probably has nothing to worry too much about. Most of the fighters will be based in locations to protect against US and Japanese forces, and to a minor degree, Russia. Very few will be dedicated to facing India, and China will mainly field it's 4th Gen fighters against India.

I think the tarrain btw India and China dosent support long standoff's.

. .
If China can invest $62 Bln in the first phase of CPEC and is planning to invest more than double this amount in the ensuing phases... well then many things are possible.

What matters is the strategic calculus...if China deems it necessary that J20 provision to PAF is in the Chinese National Interests then they will do it without reserve.

Patience is the Virtue...hardest to keep. Yet most rewarding nevertheless!!!

Project "Azm" is the new Goal

  • Aquiring development rights to the J-31 , would be a great potential deal

j-31-cover.jpg

However it seems J-20 is more superior product
J-20 is really "Angel of Death" for Enemies
j20-inverted.jpg

Side Note:
If a product is under development i.e J-31 , it is highly unlikely Pakistan has evaluated or rejected it's induction in Pakistan Airforce. All defence articles are deeply tested by actual flight and usability testing so highly doubtful J-31 has been rejected

  • The Export Chances of J-20 would be an interesting debate, we would have to ensure no American Engineer is near this plane or on Air Base. J-20 arriva would mean being stationed in Air base perhaps which does not have F16. I don't assume requirements would be that high for J-31

China Rules Out Selling its J-20 Fifth Generation Jet on Global Market

China is not considering putting its newest J-20 fifth-generation jet fighter on the international market, Air Force Commander General Ma Xiaotian told local television.

On Tuesday, China unveiled twi Chengdu J-20 stealth fighters at the Airshow China-2016 in Zhuhai. The aircraft was developed by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation. The J-20 conducted its first test flight in early 2011.

"We are not considering putting [the J-20] on the global market," Ma was quoted as saying by South China Morning Post.

At the same time, the commander said it was satisfied by the demonstration flight at the Zhuhai airshow.

Of course I’m satisfied. It’s a very good thing that our J-20 made an appearance here. We’re speeding up its development," he added.

While the detailed specifications of the new jet have been kept secret, to all appearances the jets have been designed to match the stealth capabilities of fifth-generation fighter aircraft such as the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor and Russia's Sukhoi PAK FA.

The deputy editor of Russian military magazine "Arsenal of the Fatherland" Dmitry Drozdenko told Sputnik that J-20 bears similarities to an experimental prototype for a fifth-generation fighter jet produced by Russia's MiG aircraft corporation, which was finally displayed last year.

"In my opinion, the machine is based on the Russian MiG 1.44. That plane was created to compete with the PAK FA at the preliminary design stage, and made its maiden flight in 2000. The Chinese plane is very similar. Although it hasn't been announced officially, the J-20 uses our AL-31F engine, developed by Salut, which the Chinese bought for half a billion dollars," he told sputnik

In addition to the J-20, China is also developing another fifth-generation jet fighter, the Shenyang J-31, but with a plan to attract foreign buyers.

Earlier, Russian Air Force official Sergei Kornev told RIA Novosti that the J-31 will be equipped with the Russian-made RD-93 engine. The J-31 conducted its maiden flight on October 31, 2012. Currently, the aircraft is still in development.

J-20 ain't gonna come as Chinese already said in November 2016 that J-20 is not for export

In the end it's gonna be FC-20 which is J-10B or C for the replacement of Mirage Rose Fleet

China certainly need to safeguard its investment of billions of dollars which it is pouring into CPEC. That is highly likely they sell/donate/lease some of this wonderful plane to PAF. This is the only valid point which can be the cause of J20 being landed on our land. Otherwise big NO.

Don't know about the others, but the Turkish folks have learnt that to fully utilize the 5th gen capabilities it better be home grown. The most critical parts in the realms of avionics, EW, radars, armaments etc. need "personal touch" to stand out among thousands of commonalities. Hence, the Pak project to develop indigenous 5th gen is a right choice!!! I am pretty sure the Chinese inputs would save them the hassle of "reinventing the wheels"!!! And, as is the case with almost all engineering projects, the "wheels" get exponentially bigger and complicated as the level of complexity and sophistication increases!!!! Any "friendly" inputs are more than welcome......

.
With Project AZM , we really will have to wait and see where the next inspiration will come from. Lately there have been so many stealth designs in market so would be interesting to see which design would be choosen for Pakistan's internal project.

Obviously planning a new plane takes ample years and year

People have been pleasently suprised with JF-17 Thunder and Al Kalid Tank before so remains to be seen what kind of prototype would be developed for this plane.

Stealth was the "it factor" technology in first gulf war, a mysterious tech however now the technology is well understood and various nations have developed prototypes each with it's own advantages

On Average , it is quite possible that Project Azm may take upto 10 years to reach prototype stage

no ws-15 available until 2025.
rational people know it well. but, engine problem is not a heart desease, it's diabetes。

.
FC-20 is J-10 export version's designation,```J-20 is not for export, and it will be lucky that WS-15 will be mature in 2022````apart from the U.S there is no one, except China has an on going realistic 5th gen high thrust turbofan engine in development, not even Russia.

high performance Turbofan engine is the crown jewel of engineering technology, its not some techs that you can aquire or develop in few years time````let me put in this way, give necessary funds to advanced countries like Gernamy or Japan, it would take them 20 years to come-up a high thrust turbofan engine, that is as good as Al-31, F-110 or F-100````forget about F-119 and F-135.

Pakistan's 5th fighter lies on the well being of FC-31 project```finger crossed

How about a few, if we ever get a few, for naval strike roles.
firstly: J-20 was never designed for ground or naval strike roles (it has the capability, but not priority), it is designed to take down F-22s and F-35s and to ensure 30 years of air-dominance ```` if you use that for some strick roles, then it is the big waste and very stupid waste```

secondly: J-20 will not be exported, period```we have other 5th gen in development that aims for foreign markets and allies`````

.
J10B , might just be what we will have to settle short term , to balance the effects of Rafale with our regional rival , if J20 is not available for export then we might have to wait for our own project to mature

J-31 is a jet I personally like , and Sukhoi-35 is a secondary option , this in my opinion would certainly give Pakistani Airforce a good boost. Even if we did not go in J20 Direction

The J-31 from my personal view is certainly a great asset to be used in tactical scenarios perhaps not an ideal platform 1 vs 1 dog fight scenario as the capabilities are really unknown

J-10C is a very good fighter```and J-10D is going to be another beast`````I'm just saying, and I didnt cross the line :D

No ACM didn't said anything about J-31. He said we are interested in 5th Generation from China didn't mentioned which Jet and I can assure you J-31 chances are pretty much over
it is the only hope`````that I can assure````or J-10C/D can also be very very very good to deal with few Indian jets``

Well I personally wanted us to induct 36 J10B in 2014 when it was suppose to arrive in Pakistan based on initial estimates however we missed a great chance to have this machine join our fleet. J10B fighter program had a huge following on Pakistan defence forum. Unfortunately the deal did not materialize

Perhaps due to budget requirements we might have only room to aquire either J10B or J-31 , most analyst have stated they really like the potential of J-31 while J10B they rate the fighters well however Pakistan Air Force is really trying to fill the void for Stealth (Strategic Asset)

  • J-31 likely a high runner
  • J10B
  • Sukoi-35
  • Project AZM (Local initiative)
  • PakFA (Never say never)
  • J20 (Desired but would need an exceptional approval)
All are valuable options

JF17 Block 2/ Block 2 upgrades will keep our defensive needs in good shape for a while there is no major urgency
