J-10C defeats JAS39C/D with a high score in Sino-Thai joint exercise

It all depends upon our requirements V/s better options available per finances and making the most out of every option for more & more better product. One can't go shopping in such scenarios without exhausting every option. There is a lot difference between Buying & inducting a new plane into inventory as compare to already existing setup let alone the experience at hand. If it has to go by every point under merit to select one of two available products at hand; in-fact every professional out there even non PAF will suggest to go for Vipers. Beside our experience with Viper platforms; much of setup already exists for maintenance etc. Furthermore, let's say that a new bird will in-fact take couple of years for almost full familiarization, tactics development etc. new platform does need a lot of time & energy as well for induction as compare to existing setup+experience and that too for Viper.

However, if you are going to ask about that Vipers aren't coming then in-fact, we are about to unveil Thunder Block-III which, as per our doctrine & tactics/needs; will serve the purpose in most areas that J-10 can offer atm.
but arnt we short of an interim fighter before Azm? we need 100 plus fighters instead we have only 76 high end fighters in a doctrine which is dependent on high/low mix.

Wouldnt u agree?

That is more about the jibe against some 50 errors and PAF.
did i write that post or u did?

im just checking

Indeed... this is what the chart says. On other hand, no one has seen Thunder Block-III as of yet or has any idea about the power it posses as planned, a disclosed deal for 4.5 or 4.5++ fighter jet such as Viper or any other AC. OR we may later discuss about the possible NxGF to compliment Azm (FGF) in a Medium to High Mix. There are lot of forces in work right now and most of people are kept off the information in this regard.

I will write any post for myself and I was replying to the member about your post... that shouldn't confuse you.

I have some source from Thai that they didnt give 100percent for this exercise. Meaning some of the Gripen system did not utilised. This is requested by the manufacturer of Gripen as to keep secret about their system.

But anyway, Gripen is considered a light aircraft compare to J-10 which is a medium class. So in theory, its not a very fair fight.
the edge of Western jets is there ew systems Russian jets r always considered to be more agile

Western jets user's always keep there ew systems excluded from such exercises even Indians scored good against usaf f15 in exercises and were fooled into thinking they were better ;)

Yes that's why I say that PAF may evaluate J10C once again and order a few squadrons depending on the PAF's pocket and friendship ;)
or Improvise jf17 new blocks in lesser $
other than payload and range rest of capabilities can be emulated in jf17

Chinese J-10A Fighter Jet Locks on Su-30MKK2 Flanker

Thailand has bought S-26T submarine, Type 071E LPD, VT-4 tank, and so on. China also wants to know whether Thailand needs some J-10CEs...
what is the difference between J10C and J10CE

. . . .
The answer
In 2015, after the exercise, Thailand happily told the western media that JAS-39C/D performed better than Su-27SK in BVR, while Su-27SK did better in WVR.

But in 2017, PLAAF took J-10A to Thailand for the first time, and Thailand kept silent after the the exercise.

And then J-10A in 2018, and J-10C in 2019 took part in the exercise, and Thailand also kept silent.

Depends upon simulated scenarios. Excercises are essentially learning activities.

Western suppliers do not want others to know much about their stuff, so operational restrictions are imposed in potential excercises involving Russian and/or Chinese assets.

Heck, Indian Air Force was very calculative about how to use Su-30 MKI in its excercises with USAF.

Still its within the realm of possibility that J-10C did well againt Gripen.

Which speaks volumes of the progress China has made in the last 25 years.

I would hope J-10 receives some exports orders.

It's a shame if it doesn't.

Such a beautiful bird!

J-10 being offered to PAF is a stripped down version. Radars, Avionics etc all are a stripped down versions of their Domestic Counter parts. A Far cry from what PLAAF uses. No wonder PAF has maintained distance from it. What Fan boys here don’t understand is not everything PLA uses is available in that exact specifications.

Can you explain why Type 054A/P FFG for PN is better than that of PLAN?
