He might have thought/Someone might have told him, using that word makes people take you seriously. But he is demeaning the original Holocaust by attempting to use the word as some trigger. His daughter and son-in-law will not be pleased. It is like calling every unpleasant person as a Hitler or a Nazi. Now if you call someone a Hitler or a Nazi, they think: Oh, I said something politically incorrect - like calling someone Fat.
