You can see the soldier switching weapons at the back of the Armored Car, possibly he switched to a less-lethal shotgun or something , though the weapon he aimed at them later was clearly an M4/M16 variant.
Pathetic really, shooting at reporters like that, they weren't in a riot or anything to justify shooting them, the soldiers could have easily told them to go away.
But of course, it was 'self defense'.
