Israel says separation wall prevents Palestinian attacks

It's been 20 years since Israel first started construction on the separation wall, cutting off Palestinians deep into the occupied West Bank. The government of then-prime minister Ariel Sharon claimed the barrier would protect Israelis from Palestinian attacks. But Palestinians see it as a symbol of Israeli aggression and oppression.
