Israel ready to counter Yakhont missiles — General Staff

Israel is concerned by Russia's decision to sell anti-ship Yakhont missiles to Syria but the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) would be able to "deal" with the challenge, the chief of Israeli General Staff said on Tuesday.

Russia earlier announced it would honor a 2007 contract on the delivery of several Bastion anti-ship missile systems armed with SS-N-26 Yakhont supersonic cruise missiles to Syria, despite efforts by Israel and the United States to stop the deal.

"We have been following the deal for a long time. There were attempts by the highest political levels to thwart the deal but they did not succeed," The Jerusalem Post quoted Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi as saying.

"This is a negative development and we will know how to deal with it," the general added.

Military-technical cooperation between Syria and Russia has always been an issue of criticism from Israeli authorities, who express a strong concern over the increase of Syrian defensive potential, but also see a threat of transferring weapons to Lebanese or Palestinian radicals.

The Yakhont missile has a range of 300 kilometers, the capacity to carry a 200-kilogram warhead and the unique ability of being able to cruise several meters above the water surface, making it difficult to detect and intercept.

Muslims have nothing to worry about... How much powerful Israel gets is immaterial. The most important thing is that its destruction have been told by Prophet (SA) 1400 years ago..

Precisely the reason muslims are so backward.Prophet Muhammad PBUH also said Muslims should get education.What you're suggesting however for fighting Israelis is i guess jihadhi proxy wars like Hizbollah or other terror organizations right?Instead of getting education and establishing proper armies.I just don't get pan islamists.

Education is not that important as the struggle for Islam is.... Holy Prophet (SA) never compromised on Jihad.. When Holy Prophet (SA) died, the companions of Prophet (SA) saw that there was no food in his house but a wall of his house was covered with swords ...

So Defense of Muslims is more important than education..

If you are saying that muslims are backward, than you are considering this materialistic life only, in which people think that, only that country is powerful which have more advanced weapons.. This is not at all true... at the time of Hazrat Umar (RA) muslim army in total was about only 60,000 soldiers when we broke the back of Persian and Roman Empire.... Whereas the armies of these two empires where in hundreds of thousands. When we conquered Egypt our army was only 8000 while the Egyptian army was 1 Million ...

So success for muslims is not hidden in getting this worldly education only .. Its only hidden in following Islam 100 % . If Islam says to to do Jihad when enemy attacks you, then you have to do it, and if you don't do you will be punished in afterlife.....

Simmilarly if Islam says to get education, then we have to get the education... But it does not mean that for education we finish Jihad against those who are destroying Islam. And just for your knowledge, Jihad for Islam is more important in Islam than any other thing (except prayers)....

Seconly, just don't consider Hezbollah and others struggling against Israeli terrorist as a terrorist Organization. They are the fighters of Islam who are fighting the war, that we all Muslims should have fought unitedly together.

They are far more better than you and me in the Sight of Allah..

Finally, the war against Israel insha Allah, within a decade or two (Allah knows this best) will be fought by every true muslim. Whether it be in Pakistan or whether be it in United States. Because Israel, within the above stated period is going to wage a big war in middle east. So it will not be a small war or a war being fought by few Muslim organizations like Hammas and Hezbollah Insha Allah.

If You don;t believe me, then just wait and see.

Holy Prophet (SA) himself said told about the Destruction of Israelis 1400 years ago. So we are no one to question that. He further said that this oppression of Israeli Jews will come to an end with the help of an Armed response towards them by the Muslims.

So education is definitely important, but not as important as Jihad is against the enemies of Islam if they attack us.....

Right know the most important thing for every muslim is that he/she should follow Islam 100 %. This is the only thing that will make us victorious.

That should answer your question. Every thing needs to be learned whether you want to fight for Jihad with weapons. Your post is extremely naive as Jihad is not just about Fighting with weapons against the enemies of Islam and Muslims but Jihad is fighting against your Nafs and Satan which has been termed as the Greater Jihad by the Prophet (s.a.w.) himself. No doubt Jihad will go on but you seem to be ignorant of the very meaning of Jihad. You need first some education on Jihad itself.

P.s. What are you doing on this forum my dear when its time for you to go and fight with the contemporary weapons which have been invented by the kuffar themselves.

How can you be a better person or defend yourself without education?

If Muslim follow Islam 100 %, then he don't need any worldly education to be a good person...

As far as defense is concerned, only Allah is the greatest of all defenders and protector. If we muslims don't have the support of Allah we can't even kill a single enemy soldier. But if We follow Islam perfectly and have earnned the favour of Allah because of it, we can destroy enemy of any size and of any capability.

During the Jihad against The roman empire, Khalid bin Waleed (RA) took only 60 Muslim soldiers with him in one town as pushed back the army of 60,000 Romans.

Those muslims were not well educated with the worldly education or had weapons that Romans had.....This was only possible because they followed Islam 100 %.

Muslims need only the true muslim spirit to fight against enemies. whether they have equal quality weapons or not, is immaterial.. Our history is full of such wars in which we were technologically weak. But we won battles because a true Muslim spirit was present in us...

Education is undoubtedly important and I don't disagree with this, but it can't be substituted in the place of complete following of Islam....

If israel's invasion of muslim land is your reason for hatred,please tell me what is your openion on non muslim land conquered by muslim invaders all this 1400years?I know two wrongs wont make up right but i want to know your openion on that.

Please don't worry about that.. but at least i am the one saying that Jihad is obligatory on usin the case of Palestine… this is a jihad by pen from my side for a time being. So rather than just taunting on others like you have done in your last paragraph. If you can't support my idea then at least don't make fun of it. You are just ruining your afterlife with it. Its giving nothing harm to me and my ideas.

Secondly, if you thinking that we muslims should educate ourselves and built modern weapons and then fight the enemies, then you are completely mistaken because it will take decades and before we built modern weapons, Israel will destroy Palestine and US and NATO will take over the entire muslim world....

I know education is important in every field, but now it can’t be done at the cost of lives of innocent muslims, that we keep on getting education about building new weapons, while on the other hand the enemies are killing muslims

All that is to be done, is to be done at this very moment withing next few years..

By the way if we get united as one Ummah that was ordered by Holy Prophet (SA), we have every material resources and weapons that you are talking about. We have Nuclear weapons, Tanks, weapons, oil, missile, millions of muslim soldiers, Fighter jets. Although the quantity and quality still is not upto the standard of the west, but are really very powerful if we get united..

Once again this will require the true following of Islam and not the education that you are talking about. If we get united we have everything… its all I am talking about… we don’t need any further education in weapons if we are united as one Ummah….

ur the most "intersting human" i have seen with the most mediocre view and education as possible with no knowlege of islam or any thing else so let me be clear how much do u know about islam history if u did u would have known that most of the modern arms were derived from muslim arms like torpedo small rockets etc and we remain strong till that time also that we were the best when things came to the medications and other things like construction of bunckers and forts in our time and the moment we lost the edge in technical things we were the dogs of the modern worlds and would remain this way untill people like u survive

its seems like u r the expert of jihad just wanna ask u a question "is taking up arms against any army invading or not with out the proper announcement of engagement by the goverment is jihad ?question no 2 "if u have contacts or a accord with a country that u will not engage against them and they attack an other muslim countrythen is taking arms against them is jihad or not " il soon find out if ur even a muslim or not cause as muslim u ought to know these kindergarten material see ya sooon
