Israel Loses a Friend

December 29, 2007

The ex-Shah of Iran and Mobutu were both of the view that the road to power in Washington lies through the Israel lobby. Musharraf in his biography had forwarded the same view. It isn’t entirely surprising then that Benazir should have tried to grease her way back into power with friendly overtures to the Apartheid regime over Jerusalem. That will perhaps also explain why the quickest to mourn her departure were the US congress’s inhouse ogre, Tom Lantos, and the Lobby’s other water-boy, Arlen Specter.

YNet reports:

Israeli ambassador to UN says in weeks prior to her assassination, 'intelligent, charismatic’ Pakistani opposition leader sent him emails saying she was afraid extremist elements wanted her dead.

Danny Gillerman, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, told Ynet Thursday that in the weeks prior to her assassination, Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto expressed fear for her life in emails she had sent him.

Bhutto was murdered Thursday in a suicide bombing that also killed at least 20 others at a campaign rally in the city of Rawalpindi.

Avital said she had noticed a change in Bhutto’s behavior during their last meeting, which took place six months ago in Geneva. "She began wearing a scarf on her head; she began leaning towards religious."

While Israel and Pakistan have never established diplomatic relations, Bhutto remained in contact with several Israeli figures.Gillerman said Bhutto had recently sent him a copy of her new autobiography "Daughter of Destiny", including a warm dedication to Israel. According to him, in her last emails she expressed a fear of being killed by extremist elements in Pakistan.

"She wrote me of how she admired Israel and of her desire to see a normalization in the relations between Israel and Pakistan, including the establishment of diplomatic ties," the ambassador told Ynet after the UN Security Council denounced the assassination as a "heinous act of terrorism" and called on all Pakistanis to exercise restraint.

Gillerman said he had last met with Bhutto some three months ago, just two weeks before she decided to return to her homeland after eight years in exile."She asked to meet me to discuss her plans, share her thoughts and concerns with me, as well as examine the possibilities of normalizing relations between Israel and Pakistan," he said, adding that she had even expressed an interest in meeting Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

'A serious threat’
Gillerman described Bhutto as an intelligent and charismatic leader, saying he was in awe of her patriotism and the sacrifice she made in giving up a comfortable life in the West to returning to Pakistan.

Colette Avital (Labor) met Bhutto for the first time in the 90s at a dinner held by former US President Jimmy Carter, when the Labor Knesset member served as Israeli consul general in New York.During the party, Avital recalled, Bhutto sat in on an argument she held with Palestinian leader Hanan Ashrawi over the regional conflict.

According to Avital, it was Bhutto’s strong commitment to principles that eventually brought about her death.

"She was murdered because someone wanted to get rid of her, because they realized that she had the potential to be even more active," the MK said.

"The president (Pervez Musharraf) and the candidate for prime minister deemed her a serious threat."

I don't know what to make of her! :undecided:

This Jewish propaganda makes it seem like without Benazir Pakistan is finished. I would like to remind them we have lost many leaders before but we have managed to make it this far. The biggest lost when it comes to leadership happened when Shaheed-I-Millat Prime Minister Nawabzada Laiquat Ali Khan Sahib was assassinated. Now I understand that Quaid-I-Azam dieing was a bigger challenge, but in a way his death was expected, because of his age and he knew that his days were limited and made all the arrangements. I would like to say to this propaganda that we will make it through. We will meet any challenge. New leaders will be born. And anyway I think every single country on earth has had to deal with the death of a beloved leader and they made it through why cant we? And besides Benazir wasn't even well admired, the Western media has made it seem like she was the only hope but in reality she was far from that hope. Maybe they need to reminded of her past.

she did not give anything to nation in her past two tenures rather nicked every dime out of this country. and also after her death her loyalist, the illiterate and infidels did the same but in different way.

and mind you she was not the only one, all politician in Pak except very few, like imran khan have firm policies and they follow them no matter what happen, this is how a politician should be, not like these feudal lords who do not even remember what they had promised earlier to this nation, and that is the reason after every 2 to 3 years we want them to be changed and that’s why everytime they themselves call army to takeover. My observation about pak politicians is that they all have same agenda i.e how to get more out of what they are investing now, it’s a business for them by playing wills of ordinary and poor people.

i wonder how and when we come out of this mess. i trusted nawaz but he is even more corrupt than her, no one is trust worthy than lawyers and civil society, the literate people the knowledgeable and wise.

my pray is MAY ALLAH bless us with wise and sincere leaders, rather who play with emotions of ordinary and simple people

well about israel, mind you there are many friends of israel within us, some are exposed but believe me, in west some of the leaders are more confident to speak against zionist than any of present muslim leader. what a shame!

follow the link and watch yourself, what a shame for us that none of our media ever mentioned about George Galloway ever, rather we rely telepgraph, fox, cnn and other jewish funded media portals.

he is my hero because he has more courage than any muslim leader to speak about truth and facts of this global conflict against muslims from Philippines to west. if you any muslim leader please let me know, nawaz, bb, altaf, chowdhries are just their pets who can do whatever they wants them to do, for them might would be right but but for faithful men truth is always right!

We have seen how they terrorized Palestinians yet are able to sell the story as if Palestinains are the devils... Remember that they exploded sheikh Yasin while all that man could do was breath? Good job. If they do something then they do it well. We can learn from that cause all I see is failed communications to internal and external parties.

Benazir was hated tremendously due to her compromise of recognizing Israel. She would surely be attacked if she did so and Pakistan would loose a lot of respect from the Muslim world.

She was not hated but a lot of Pakistanis had difference of opinion with her. Pakistan has a very clear stance that if Palestinian is resolved according to the satisfaction of Palestinians then we donot have any issue of recognising Israel. By the way why should we be more Palistanian than Palistainans.

Very true observation !

Beats me too.... When all the other Proud to be Muslim states ... in Middle East can recognisze Israel why not us.

But the thing is ..........

As per the nature of issues ........ Pakistan is the back bone of Islamic states and it should maintain a demanding relation with Israel... Demand for Justice in Palestine Issue and as per the will of Palestanian people.

And what would be your comment on Musharraf who has wooed Israel and also had addressed the Zionist Congress or whatever it is called in New York.

One may like to add that Musharraf is alone responsible for the resurgence of Pakistan's transmogrification from a failed state with an economy that was becoming a breadbasket case to a booming one bringing prosperity to Pakistan and also ensuring that terrorists are kept in place.

He is in fact, like it or not, the Saviour of Pakistan.

How should he be taken in view of your post and what should be his fate?

One must understand that while religion is a great thing, it does not fill the stomach and reduce the woes in the modern world.

Pragmatism does.

Smelling the coffee is the sure test.

Also think how many Islamic nation has come to the rescue of Pakistan when she needed?

One has to look after oneself and if anyone helps, it should be taken as a bonus!

Nothing can be expected as axiomatic in today's world.
