The Islamabad High Court approved on Thursday the pre-arrest bail of former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur.
They have been ordered to submit surety bonds worth Rs1 million each.
Zardari has been given three bail in three cases, while Faryal Talpur in one case.
A two-member bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, heard the case.
The hearing has been adjourned till April 10, Wednesday.
The PPP leaders had approached the court on Wednesday to get pre-arrest bail in the fake accounts case.
They were granted 10-day protective bail by the Sindh High Court on March 19. In the petition, they said that their bail would expire on March 29 and it should be extended.
Zardari said that he is being politically victimised in the case. The two have also asked for a list of all the cases NAB is investigating them in. The PPP co-chairperson said that he doesn’t want to be arrested in a case he doesn’t know has been filed against him.
The names of Zardari and Talpur are amongst 170 others that emerged in the report of an investigation team which probed the fake accounts case. On January 7, the Supreme Court sent the fake accounts case to NAB and told it to wrap up the investigation in two months. The matter was taken up by the court over the delay in a 2015 Federal Investigation Agency investigation into money laundering via fake bank accounts.
The case is being investigated in Rawalpindi. It was shifted from Karachi on the orders of the top court.
