Bangladeshi ruling party Awami League leader Dr Abdur Razzak said that Islam will be withdrawn as the state religion from the constitution of Bangladesh.

Awami League presidium member Dr Abdur Razzak at a discussion held at the National Press Club on Saturday said, "Endangering our lives we fought in the Liberation war for a non-communal Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony, here we live with people from all religions and Islam should not be accommodated as state religion in the constitution of Bangladesh."

Islam was made the religion of the state by autocratic ruler Hussain Mohammad Ershad damnifying the main spirit of Liberation War. He added "Bismillahi-r-Rahmani-r-Rahim" at the beginning of the constitution.

Abdur Razzak was speaking at a round table titled "Deep Rooted Unity of Common People of Bangladesh and India to Counter Terrorism" organised by SAARC cultural society, where he said, "In different programs I told the journalist that I do not believe Islam should be in the constitution as state religion. It's merely a strategy. If opportunity comes we will repeal Islam from the constitution."

Secretary of West Bengal state committee Sri Pritam Ghosh, Padma Shri awarded medalled social worker Sri Ajay Dutta and spokesperson of Assam state committee Shiladitya Dev Pramukh spoke at the roundtable which was presided by the SAARC Cultural Society President Syed Abu Hossain.

Off late, the Hindu Community has become a victim of communal attack in different parts of the country including Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria. Following the attacks demand of repeal of Islam from the constitution came from different quarters.

সময়ের কণ্ঠস্বর – যেকোনো সময় রাষ্ট্রধর্ম ‘ইসলাম’ বাতিল হবে বলে জানিয়ে অাওয়ামী লীগের প্রেসিডিয়াম সদস্য ড. অাব্দুর রাজ্জাক বলেছেন, ‘সুযোগ ও সময় পেলেই আমরা সংবিধান থেকে রাষ্ট্রধর্ম ‘ইসলাম’ তুলে দেব।’


আজ দুপুরে জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবে আয়োজিত এক গোলটেবিল বৈঠকে তিনি এই মন্তব্য করেন।

সার্ক কালচারাল সোসাইটি কর্তৃক দুপুরে জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবের ভিআইপি লাউঞ্জে ‘সন্ত্রাসবাদ প্রতিরোধে প্রয়োজন বাংলাদেশ ও ভারতের গণ-মানুষের সুদৃঢ় ঐক্য’ শীর্ষক একটি গোলটেবিল বৈঠকের আয়োজন করা হয়। বৈঠকটিতে সভাপতিত্ব করেন সংস্থাটির সভাপতি সৈয়দ আবু হোসেন বাবলা।

গোলটেবিল বৈঠকে ড. আব্দুর রাজ্জাক বলেন, একটি অসাম্প্রদায়িক রাষ্ট্রের জন্যই আমরা জীবন বাজি রেখে যুদ্ধ করেছি। বাংলাদেশ একটি অসাম্প্রদায়িক দেশ, সম্প্রীতির দেশ।



বাংলাদেশের সংবিধানে রাষ্ট্রধর্ম ইসলাম থাকা উচিত নয় মন্তব্য করে অাব্দুর রাজ্জাক বলেন, ‘অামি বিভিন্ন জায়গায় বলেছি, বিবিসিতেও বলেছি, অামি কোনো দিনও বিশ্বাস করিনা ইসলাম ধর্ম বাংলাদেশের সংবিধানে রাষ্ট্রধর্ম থাকা উচিত। এটা অামাদের কৌশল। অামরা সুযোগ পেলে, সময় পেলে অামরা ইনশাহ অাল্লাহ এটাকে সংবিধান থেকে তুলে দেবো।’

ড. আব্দুর রাজ্জাক বলেন, ‘এটা আমাদের কৌশল, আমরা সুযোগ পেলে, সময় পেলে ইনশাআল্লাহ এটাকে সংবিধান থেকে তুলে দেব।’

তিনি অারও বলেন, ‘মুক্তিযুদ্ধের বিপক্ষ শক্তি ’৭৫ এর পরে যুবসমাজকে বিভ্রান্ত করেছিল। দীর্ঘ প্রায় ২১ বছর ক্ষমতায় থেকে তারা তিলে তিলে সুকৌশলে দেশকে ধ্বংস করার পায়তারা করছিল। সামরিক, বেসামরিক, স্বৈরাচাররা ক্ষমতায় থেকে দেশকে শেষ করে দিতে চেয়েছিল। একটি অসাম্প্রদায়িক গণতন্ত্রকে ধ্বংস করার পায়তারা তারা করেছিল।’

মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনাকে ধ্বংস করতে চেষ্টা করেছিল মন্তব্য করে তিনি বলেন, ‘অনেক কষ্ট করে দেশকে ওই ধ্বংস যজ্ঞ থেকে ফিরিয়ে অানতে অনেক কৌশল অবলম্বন করতে হয়েছে, অনেক সময় লাগছে। অামরা এখন অনেক উন্নতি করেছি। সারা পৃথীবি জানে বাংলাদেশ অনেক উন্নতি করেছে। অামরা এ ঊন্নয়নের ধারা অব্যহত রাখতে চাই, অব্যহত থাক।’

গোলটেবিল বৈঠকটিতে আরও অংশগ্রহণ করেন ভারত থেকে আসা পশ্চিমবঙ্গ প্রদেশ কমিটির সম্পাদক শ্রী প্রীতম ঘোষ, সমাজকর্মী শ্রী অজয় দত্ত ও শিলাদিত্য দেব।

Only hindus wear bindi in BD. they are unhygienic because they arepoor. justlikein pakistan. also nothing called a Muslim country. if a religion needs a country tthen is not a religion. it's a Political system.
