Sindh was not the first gateway of Muslim conquests into present day Pakistan and M Bin Qasim was not its trailblazer.
In 644 AD Caliph Umar r.a dispatched an army under the command of Hakam ibn Amr for the invasion of Makkran what is now a part of pesent-day Pakistan.
By mid-644 the Battle of Rasil was fought between the forces of the Rashidun Caliphate and the Rai Kingdom near Deybal present-day Hinglaj Temple ; the Raja's forces were defeated and forced to retreat to the eastern bank of the Indus.. Umar r.a ordered his forces to consolidate their position on the western bank of the Indus River .It was further decided that Makran should be the easternmost frontier of the Islamic empire and that no further attempt should be made to extend the conquests.
During the reign of Caliph Uthman r.a, Makran broke into revolt. Uthman r.a sent his commander, Ubaidhullah ibn Ma’ mar Tamini, to re-conquer Makran and be its first governor. In 650 AD, the army under his command conquered it after a series of skirmishes. In 654 AD Abdurehman bin Samarah r.a (a sahabi ) was sent to Zaranj (present day south east Afghanistan)as governor of seestan/makran.By the time Uthman r.a reign ended most of the present day Baluchistan upto wahsistan( present day Quetta) and Kabul was being governed by Abdurehman bin samrah r.a. except Turan (pesent-day kalat/khuzdar) .
Which was conquered under Ali r.a.in 663 AD . Khuzdar/Kalat was conquered by Haris ibn Marah Abdi from local hindu shahi tribes.
It was only in 711 AD during Ummayad times Muhammad bin Qasim entered Sindh through Makran .Qassim raised forces, at Fannazbur(Panjgur) and Arman Belah (Lasbela) before conquering Debal (Karachi west). He made Mansurah his Garrison city and further went north upto Multan and then to Jehlum.
The Present day KPK and Central Punjab was only conquered later by Muslims in 1004 AD and 1008 AD respectively when Mahmud Ghaznavi (Abbasid) fought battle of Peshawar upon crossing Khyber Pass against Kabul Shahi Hindu tribes .
Most of the commanders above other than Ghanznavi were from the land of sham Thats how Baluch relate themselves to Syrians and call themselves children of Sham.
