Ishrat Jahan case: Ex-bureaucrat says CBI coercing him to implicate his seniors
New Delhi: A former under secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, RVS Mani, who had drafted the first affidavit in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case has alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is trying to coerce him into 'falsely indicting his seniors".
Mani says all records pertaining to his affidavit be made available to him and the CBI. He alleged that IPS officer Satish Verma was trying to coerce him.According to CBI sources say it was Intelligence Bureau Special Director Rajinder Kumar who actually drafted the first affidavitin the case.
Mani has demanded that CBI be instructed to record his statemnt only in presence of the Chief Vigilance officer. Mani has also demanded that a lawyer be made available to him while the CBI has also asked the Home Ministry for the file related to this affidavit.
The Home Ministry says the file has several other sensitive documents which should not be in public domain and has now asked the Law Ministry for advice on the matter.
Though Home Ministry officials want to protect Rajinder Kumar, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has refused to intervene saying " the guilty must be punished".
