Thats the problem with Govt's in general, they always have a "customer base" i.e tax payers willing /forced to pay up.
If this was a private company, he would be out on his bottom. Customers would be putting there money elsewhere.

one way around this was monarchy, where the rulers would see the country/enterprise as their own, something to be passed on to the next generation.

This is a free for all, willing customers pay, no matter what. He could literally say on live TV " I will bankrupt you all "and no one could do a thing.

This is why Democracies never last. The historical record is full of monarchies. Democracies collapse pretty quickly.

Democracy last longer because everyone cares about their country..look at USA it's been there for 250yrs because at any time of history people cares more in USA be it civil war or civil right movements

Just a few 100,000 people can force u to step down in democracy..this isn't a dictatorship

USA isnt a democracy, its an oligarchy which is what Democracies all end up being. Two political parties with the same backers. And look where the US is headed, sending 50 billion to Ukraine when their own cities are turning to shit and homeless population is exploding. Their debts and inflation are off the charts. not sustainable. But the ones in govt, the families who are the front men on both political spectrums and their backers are richer than never.

any other party has no chance in the US, independants have no chance. The media wont even entertain them.
