I've heard rumors about ICBM / MIRV being developed by Pakistan but is there any response to BrahMos threat?

As far i know there is no super sonic cruise missile with Pakistan. But the Babur have capability of staying in stealth mod. Hard to detect. can fly lower than the radar range.

Don't know about Super Sonic but Babur is more than enough to take care of India :)

dont forget that babur is sub sonic missile of same class of tomahawk with a range of 700 km and every one know that brahmos is supersonic which is going to become hypersonic is far too superior to the tomhack cruse missile

acutally , a CM doesn't need to be fast but stealth. a supersonic missile can't fly at the tree-top-high making it easier to be detected by radars. moreover, it's ramjet engines would be targets that can not be missed by infrared seekers. so, although it's faster, it is easier to be intercepted.

secondly, i don't think babur is of the same class of tomahawk. tomahawk's is equiped with a semi-sealth turbofan engine and a GPS navigation system(a military version, more accurate and more difficult to jam). CMs without a accurate guidance system can only fly higher to aviod a clash and is more likely to miss it's target.

A proper response to BrahMos is not any ICBM/MIRV or Supersonic/Hypersonic cruise misille.

A proper response to BrahMos is developing/procuring an anti missile system which is capable to detect and stop BrahMos.

Pakistan developing a supersonic cruise missile is retaliation and not a solution against BrahMos.

india is developing a stealth CM with a range of 1000km nibhay which will be tested in 2009-2010 then india will have both

I might have to agree with you only on a few points.
A sub-sonic CM can only hide from the ground based radars. any aerostat radars/AWACS/spaced based radars can easily pickup the cords easily.Once detected,sub-snic cruise missiles can be takenoff even with an Aircraft canon fire(a kids play)

since the poster mentioned it as a stealthy missile,
Again what kinda stealth feature it has?Radar/IR/......?

with the advent of SAR on MALE and HALE UAV`s, the days of sub-sonic cruise missiles are almost over and are nearing end.
the so called sub-sonic works beyond doubt only against countries like Afghanistan,Iraq and other technologically less advanced.

Why supersonic and hypersonic?
Because, theoretically any missile can be tracked either vis ground/space/areal radars. even an ABM radar can paint the supersonic or hypersonic CM`s on its radar ,but only when the missile is high flying with incredible RC.Even though it detects,it will have only milli-sec to respond to launch an interceptor.
And the interceptor has to be travelling with higher velocity than the CM.Unless the interceptor has high speed and long range,it cant take down the target.
Currently no one has that kind of quick response and high speed long range interceptors. And it will obviously take time to counter the supersonic CM.And will take a lot more time to counter the hypersonic CM`s.And by the time the intercepting technology matures enough, the same on CM`s will also mature.
bottom line will be,these supersonic/hypersonic CM developed today will be having no foe in the foreseeable future.

Oh really ?:woot:

Is brahmos a Super dooper sonic Cruise missile :blah: or another DUD?

First make your brahmos operational then think about Hypersonic :hang2:

I am considering that you just came from Mars.Brahmos LACM is inducted into army and is operational.
Brahmos AShM is deployed on few old ships and is supposed to be deployed on all the ones U/C and the future ones.

Brahmos ALCM development is completed and the integration with MKI and Tu-144 is inthe process.

Brahmos SLCM is undergoing final development.

Again coming to hypersonics,

ISRO RLV will be tested next year which is a hypersonic SLV. And will be eventually developed into a SSTO(single state to orbit) which can take of from ground like a normal A/C and will launch the sat into orbit and will touch down the ground as like an A/C.
DRDO`s HSTDV will fly in 2011-2012 time frame.Development and ground testing is completed.Initially a 1/5th scaled vehicle will be tested and later on a full model will be launched.

A cruise missile is a guided missile that carries an explosive payload and uses a lifting wing and a propulsion system, usually a jet engine, to allow sustained flight; it is essentially a flying bomb. Cruise missiles are generally designed to carry a large conventional or nuclear warhead many hundreds of kilometers with high accuracy
