Is Sri Lanka buying JF-17?

No need to sell jf17 to any of the nations that can not stand against Indian pressure.
A pro Indian govt in the future and you will find your fighter being evaluated by your enemy. Why is every one so desperate for the sales to every x.y.and z???
Make it lethal... And let it perform against your enemy AF and let the people come asking for it.
This kind of attitude is what is making Pakistan loose a lot.
When countries are facing pressure or not agreeing with what you wanted, instead of showing middle finger, you work hard to persuade them through diplomacy.
And that's how you win. While you you lot its a zero sum game.
Try to like like normal country who work so hard to sell their products.

What nonsense. LTTE was headed by Christian leaders who were converted by USA. Why would India get Prabhakaran to convert to Christianity?

What USA got is unknown. USA has intervened in several small countries like cuba, Philippines, Korea etc. Go ask USA why they do it.

Why India helped a Muslim to create Bangladesh??

Only one reason is that to weaken all countries in south Asia to become dominant power of region.

There was already Islamic country of Pakistan. It was simply divided. India didn't get a muslim to do it but it just happened that Bangladesh had Muslim majority and hence Muslim head was selected. But making Prabhakaran convert to Christianity was done by USA. Why would India get a Hindu to convert to Christianity to give support?

Before posting on BD topic please do read what your PM and his aides have said proudly in public of India's involvement and terrorism in internal issues of a sovereign country.

Hopefully won't buy anything other than American jets. It was clear in past few years how Russian and Chinese systems perform but then again with our inept government, anything is possible.

In what way did Pakistan help Sri Lanka against LTTE? Give me the details of the assistance? Don't tell me that giving some training to soldiers is a big assistance. I am adding for assistance in terms of resources, weapons, logistics etc.
in this video it gives proper details.

In reaction to various geo-political (see Indian intervention in the Sri Lankan Civil War) and economic factors, from August 1983 to May 1987, India, through its intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), provided arms, training and monetary support to six Sri Lankan Tamil insurgent groups including the LTTE. During that period, 32 camps were set up in India to train these 495 LTTE insurgents,[42] including 90 women who were trained in 10 batches.[43] The first batch of Tigers were trained in Establishment 22 based in Chakrata, Uttarakhand. The second batch, including LTTE intelligence chief Pottu Amman,[44] trained in Himachal Pradesh. Prabakaran visited the first and the second batch of Tamil Tigers to see them training.[45] Eight other batches of LTTE were trained in Tamil Nadu. Thenmozhi Rajaratnam alias Dhanu, who carried out the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi and Sivarasan—the key conspirator were among the militants trained by RAW, in Nainital, India.[46]

In April 1984, the LTTE formally joined a common militant front, the Eelam National Liberation Front (ENLF), a union between LTTE, the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO), the Eelam Revolutionary Organisation of Students (EROS), the People's Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) and the Eelam People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF).[47]

I don't think Sri Lanka is in a place to buy JF-17 but could be wrong.

Here's a model of the J-10 in the back ground.

You can't apply this logic for your defense related items.
Any how. . .its just my opinion which can be wrong and I am not a decision maker.

what is Sri Lanka's perceived threat from?
Not sure what the percieved threat is but in August 2016, the Sri Lankan government made the announcement that it was seeking to procure between eight and 12 combat aircraft to replace its ageing air force assets. Reported in Janes 360 also but link is unreachable, however below links work.

The Sri Lankans might as well get Turboprop MPAs to monitor their coastline and help in the development of their EEZ. MPA can also help them loitering over areas of their nation for Search and Rescue as well as resource monitoring and mineral extraction surveys.

Other then that perhaps a few Transport Helicopters (which can be used as attack helicopters if need be) just in case and keep a few of the F-7s maintained in the even of a rebel uprising or heavily armed terror attack.

4x Mi-24 are standing on tarmac in Colombo Airport, with their rotors removed. A few Mi-17 are standing nearby too. Hopefully 1-2 x F-7 will be in flying condition with atleast 1 x Kfir. Cant say about the status of Mig-27.

SLAF has lot more transport aircraft than fighters and lots more transport helis than gunships.

Then they don't need any aircraft, and might as well cut the military down to a police force with SWAT capabilities when needed, now that the civil war is over. The money saved ought to be spend rebuilding their nation, but its up to them how they wish to spend their money and whom they perceive as a potential threat.

Thanks for the Info.

Enough for Sri Lanka to be grateful to us... this is clear reflection on our state relations...

what ever we provided was clearly more effective.. As usual the indian army got it;s arse handed on a plate by LTTE...
