Is PDF a defense forum???

Can we as a defense forum just focus on defense related topics (and those closely related)???

Honestly, can we? Or is this too much to ask? Why is there so much deviation and trolling?

I think its alright to have non-defense related topics as well. About trolling, it shouldn't happen on any forum. And most of us would have indulged in trolling, knowingly or unknowingly. Nobody is a saint here.

That is true. Both you and I trolled quite a bit in the past (un-intentionally). Even I had my series of "anti-India" rants a few weeks ago (which was spurred by some Indian trolls, but nonetheless I fired back).

It does make PDF a lively and diverse forum..... but what is causing this??? Do Indians really despise / envy / hate Chinese and Pakistan that much??? Believe it or not, but common Chinese don't despise / envy / hate Indians (this forum is a wake up call for most Chinese)...

We are all here for defense discussions. But things do get out of hand once poverty, toilets, kashmir, arunachal etc come into discussion.

There are some people on the forum who are here to discuss these matters only. I would advise them to move to another forum, since PDF is strictly for defense.

We can have other talks too but priority should be defense.

Both indian and chinese trolls in this forum dont represent the whole of respective countries.And as for your question,most indians dont hate china and in my state kerala i have seen many peoples who are big fans of china.

What do you mean by defence related topics? Anything related to Pakistan will come in the category of its defence. Defence doesn't mean only arms and ammunition. So deviation is fine.
As for trolling ,let's try to avoid it but it is bound to happen specially when it comes to Indo-Pak related issues.

Defense to me isn't chinese astronaut eating dogs, indians lacking toilets etc etc.

Defense is when we talk of arms, strategies, doctorine, tactics, and capabilities.

In my opinion is a very comprehensive forum, covering all the aspects by having Pakistan Defence & International Defence forums, Current Affairs forums, Political Affairs forums, Strategic & Geopolitical Issues forums, Economy related forums.
As far as trolling is concerned it is the responsibility of individuals to get themselves familiar with the forum's rules, otherwise mods are here to take care of trolling.

I seriously don't hate but like Pakistanis since they speak the same lingo hindi/urdu or punjabi plus I think thinking is same most of the time, hardly anyone here ever I have seen in real life talking about politics and stuff, most here are so busy with their lives that no one want extra headache or hate-redness.
As far as Chinese goes I don't even know they hate Indians, Indians just have this built in their Psyche since 1962. I love Chinese girl, they are so petite and their eyes are lovely and mostly are very focused and clear hearted (I know I shdn't generalize )

I suppose Indian members posting over a dozen different topics on the Time Square incident should be accepted as defense related.
More over their intention wasn't to discuss or debate but rather to expose. When such misbehavior is repeatedly exercised, the gloves naturally will come off. !!!!!

It would be a fruitless exercise to blame any one nationality of people for trolling or for posting hateful comments. The one who replies to the troll or replies in kind to a hate post is guilty of the same offense.

What is causing it? I think many a times its a lack of a balanced perspective while reading through an article/post and an eagerness to show the other side down that causes it. Most of the new members are guilty of it and some senior members as well. I wont pontificate and say that I never do it. But for sure my percentage of such posts has come down since I joined the forum over 7 months back.

Whats the solution? Well for starters, most pissing contest threads start with articles and that's where problems arise. Lets all think and evaluate an article before starting a new thread with it. Just because the tone of the article is concurrent with what you think doesn't mean its a good piece. Does it consider alternate povs? Does it evaluate all factors thoroughly? Does it provide tangible proof of assertions it makes or is it all unconfirmed sources? If we can take care while posting articles, 90% of the problem will be eliminated. Rest is basic respect and use of logical and fact driven arguments while talking to a fellow forum member.

WJ, I dont think blaming one group of people helps tackle this problem.
