That's true. What I have observed is that the USA has been poorly managed since the early 2000s.

Actually, US economy has not grown in real terms since the stock market crash in early 2000s. It seems to have grown up with accounting tricks.

Whether China was stealing or China was competing fairly, US failed to defend own economic interests against China. That is main problem here.

But by looking at all this, we cannot say that the US is a failed state. US is not a failed state, but a state that seriously needs reforms.

It all depends upon life choices and lifestyle. If you are expecting nice things you have to work for it. However if you want to treat education like forced daycare you are going to have a miserable life of struggle and possibly crime.

With tech today I can lookup almost any person and drop myself in a streetview map in front of their house. So when you lookup old classmates the expected patterns start falling into place of who is doing ok and who is not. I see people living in houses~ 20 meters from traintracks and highways.
