Iraqi navy to sign deal for 45m fast attack craft & 115m naval ship

The contract will include the following items.

$49M for support of vessels
$49M for Expanding and modernising the ship building yard of the Iraqi Navy
$115M for building a (training) ship of 115M length for the Iraqi Navy
6x 45m long missile boats for an unknown value.
2x transport ships to take passengers from Umm Qasr to the offshore ports al Umaya and Basra oil terminals.

Other priorities currently, army and air force, corvettes&frigates cost a lot.

But when the faw port is ready which has a part for the navy they can buy more, a few corvettes with helicopters seahawks for example would be enough for Iraq.

The offshore Basra oil terminal & Faw port will need some protection.

At this point, Iraq will be left far behind.

5th fleet keeps the gulf in check, so if the offshore oil terminal is threatened they can intervene.

6 missile ships depending on what anti ship missiles will be acquired is a good deterrence for now, I don’t expect Exocet like missiles on this ship though, short range radar.
