TEHRAN: Iran's President Hassan Rouhani was officially sworn in for a second term on Thursday at a ceremony overseen by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamanei.
"I confirm the vote and appoint you as president of the republic," Khamenei said in front of a packed audience of Iranian officials.
Khamenei applauded the high turnout and "enthusiastic participation" in the May election as "signs of the success of the Islamic regime in reinforcing the republican and popular char ..

Among those in attendance at the ceremony was former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who fell out of favour with the establishment and was notably barred from standing as a candidate.
Khamenei called on Rouhani to emphasise the "resistance economy" focused on increased employment and national production at a time when the official jobless rate has reached 12.6 percent.
Rouhani, a 68-year-old moderate, won a convincing victory over his hardline opponent Ebrahim Raisi in M ..
However, he has already faced considerable pushback from conservative opponents and now faces mounting threats from the United States, which passed fresh sanctions against Iran on Wednesday.

. . . .
I wish Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was the president.I really respect that man.
Conservatives aka principlists got defeated in last presidential elections. I myself voted to conservatives because I believe their policies (especially in military field) are a bit wiser than reformers.

I would like Mr Ghalibaf [a conservatives candidate] (he left presidential race to back his conservatives friend) become president instead of Rouhani. Btw I congrats Mr Rouhani and his followers.

President has power in Iran but parliament is more important in major policies. So either of reformers and conservatives don't change major policies in Iran that much.

Ahmadinejad was good president in his first term of presidential era however I prefer he doesn't become president again in soon future.

There is something i call it human capacity.
He was a good man but he was, unusual proud destroyed his good attitudes and intentions.
Our leadership approved him but in his final days of presidency we witnessed his hostility against our leader.
His capacity wasn't enough to be encouraged you know :)
