Iran's unemployment rate dropped to a single-digit figure this summer, announced the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) on Friday.
According to the latest SCI figures, the number of jobless people dropped to 2.2 million, or 9.5 percent of the working population, between June 22 and September 22.
The report shows that unemployment rate among the youth (aged between 16 and 24) reached 22.9 percent—more than twice the figure for other age groups.
The data further indicated that services sector accounted for 47.4 percent of the employment with the industry sector making up 33.6 percent and agriculture sector 19 percent.
Unemployment rate for the second quarter of 2014 was 10.7 percent.
This comes after the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) announced that the economy has recorded positive growth for the first time in two years.
Latest CBI figures show the economy expanded 4.6 percent in the three months to June 21.
According to the data, Iran's agriculture, oil, mines and industry sectors posted positive growth rates of up to 8.1 percent during the period.
Iran's economic growth rate turned positive after months of stagflation witnessing negative economic growth combined with rising inflation.
In the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2014) Iran's economy shrank to -1.9 percent.
President Hassan Rouhani has said the Islamic Republic will witness an inflation rate far below 20 percent at the end of the year.
"I announce to the Iranian nation that we have fortunately put stagnation behind," Rouhani said.
The administration had earlier envisaged a 25-percent inflation rate for the current year.
"In the energy sector, in oil and gas, we will witness a remarkable breakthrough this year," Rouhani noted.
Iran's inflation rate dropped to 23.2 percent in the Iranian month of Mordad (July 23-August 22) showing a sharp decrease compared with 40.1-percent in the same period last year.
The administration is determined to bring the inflation rate down to a single-digit figure
