I have a lot of memories there.

keya yaad dila diya I do remember we always order for gravy, is this worked only in Irani hotels? I never tried that sweet.

now everyone hotel wala gives you free gravy but its Irani hotel tradition. I never tried that sweet thing until one of my Irani friend ordered it, I asked him what is it called he said Meuni. Its like meetha para in a Samosa size, all Irani restaurants have it in the big dish at the cashier's desk, that makes it a certified Irani hotel otherwise another Irani hotel look alike

Well I live in one of the town you mentioned
And the irani hotel you mentioned must be innfront of printing press
If you havn't visited Malir halt for a long time its quite changed now a newly contructed brigde lies there plus Irani hotel you mentioned is replaced by broast and other chai ke hotels.

No, I know printing press location the Irani hotel was(is) located on main road which goes further to Landhi Quaidabad etc and in front it was a local train station cross the railway tracks it was Shah Faisal colony?

My dad's close friend was from Iran, he ran a successful Iranian hotel in Karachi. I need to ask him the name of that hotel. I think he closed it down and left for Iran.

"Gavy"?! We young men called it "Gravy"! And we ate at all kinds of cheap/road-side hotels in Karachi who served the extra "Gravy".

Anyway, what is "Gavy" origin?

Never been to any Iranian hotel in Karachi but we knew there was at least one in the city center.

If you come from Shahrae Faisal towards Malir cross Drigh colony Star Gate Chotta Gate, there is a bus stop name Malir Halt, and sorry it is Rafh e Aam society not Shah Faisal colony if cross the railway track, the Irani hotel is ( was ) on corner of Malir Halt stop.
From there turn left on right side after a mile printing press then Mosel colony etc.that road name is Jinnah Street? well, thanks for your time I was just wondering if that hotel( resturant ) still there or not.

I don't think if Irani hotels has proper names, it's just call Irani Hotel, sorry if I'm wrong

Oh, Bhai, many cheaper restaurants in Karachi offered some extra "salan" once the plate was cleaned up. We called that something like "gravy". Or should it be Gavy?
Just trying to understand . Maybe they don't do that anymore?

I think the word is Gravy, and as @xyxmt said this service started from Irani hotels later adopt by other restaurants, btw Irani hotels aren't cheap high standard of food with reasonable prices.

One of Irani hotel still exists in Saddar opposite Paradise hotel .............
