Iran to release anti-terror operation video'
One week after a deadly terrorist attack in northwestern city of Mahabad, an Iranian lawmaker says security forces plan to release footage of their anti-terror operations.
Abdul-Mohammad Baba Ahmadi Milani, a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said on Friday that followers of the Abdul Rahman Qassemlou, a former leader of the Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI), were behind the terror attack.
"When [Mahabad] residents refused to work with [KDPI] terrorists, PJAK and PKK elements retaliated by killing 11 women and one child," Baba Ahmadi Milani added.
The Party for Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK) is an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, also known as the PKK.
"The perpetrators of this assassination were killed on Iraqi soil and security forces are still perusing evidence to identify the architects of this act of terrorism," he said, adding that footage of the raid would be released soon.
A bomb explosion near a military parade in West Azarbaijan Province claimed 12 lives and injured at least 80 people on September 22.
Shortly afterwards, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said it had identified and killed all terrorists associated with the attack in an operation.
