Iran to Build Oil Pipeline to Afghanistan

The Iranian oil ministry announced today that Iran and Afghanistan have agreed to build a pipeline to facilitate the exports of Iranian oil products, including gasoil, jet fuel and gasoline to Afghanistan.

“With the construction of this pipeline, part of the energy needed by Afghanistan will be met with full guarantee and security,” said Ali Reza Zeighami, Iranian deputy oil minister. (IRNA, 6 November).

This would be a good step but isn't there a possibility that it may reach the fate of Iran-Pakistan pipeline due to objection from the west.

If the west eventually is gone from Afghanistan, they can't say a damn thing anymore. Pakistani leaders are just to much committed to the west. Iran has always supported Karzai.

Is that before or after Iran builds the pipeline to Pakistan? :undecided:

IRan has already built the pipeline to pakistan (on the Iranian side). It's all up to pakistan to decide what happens next, as it's always been.

A half-built pipeline is no good at transporting oil or gas, is it? It is as good as not there, functionally speaking of course.

what are you on about?
It's up to you guys to decide what happens in your country. First you have to decide if you want Iranian gas and then decide how you're going to build the pipeline on your side (whether you want Iran to build it or Russia/china etc...).

Edit: so aeronut gives me a warning for saying terrorists are going to blow up the AFG pipeline!

wtf lol

man pakistan has problems when even the educated ones are pro taliban

Don't expect anything from Pakistani side except a few words, our leaders won't even sh!t without the consent from 1). Uncle Sam, 2). Saudi Arabia, 3). whoever else.

Pakistan is not a sovereign state.

Good step Iran,

Appreciated. Every country should help afghanistan to come out its cycles of militancy and poverty.

The only one who I see who has problems, seem to be you automatically assuming stuff.

That's a very good competition going on Afghanistan, Saudi is to build a $100mln Islamic center and now Iran wants to give us a stream of oil and gas! wonderful!

Iran can help us a lot towards stability I hope Iran comes out of sanctions ASAP.

I can't understand why you guys letting the Saudis to build a hate-palace. The only reason they are willing to build such place, is because they want their backward ideology spread into Afghanistan.

Let's look in to the positive side of the project they are going to start! we will restrict anyone from going to Pakistan for religious studies where they are brain washed and sent back as state hater and jahad supporter! secondly the center will have various faculties which will enroll a lot of students in other subjects so we can have professionals at the end! thirdly construction of a hospital is also included which will help us to persuade patients from going to Pakistan and India; with such an investment we can bring other sheikhs from GCC to invest in other projects in Afghanistan.

With Iran we are much closer than Saudi, we share long border, we share culture & traditions, we have common languages, we have historical mutuality, we have common religion, we have good trade, and there are many other indicators that can't crack this friendship if we allow Saudi investment in Afghanistan!
