Iran's Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Firouz Masihpour has taken part in the opening ceremony of Turkey’s 12th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF).

According to Iran’s military attaché in Turkey,Colonel Jahangir Shariat, Masihpour arrived in the Turkish city of Istanbul to take part in the fair on Tuesday morning, when the international fair kicked off.

The deputy defense ministeris also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with high-ranking Turkish Defense Ministry and foreign officials, Shariat added.

He went on to say that Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan is also to head a delegation to visit the fair, which will run until May 8.

Over 800 companies are to display their defense products in this year’s IDEF, in which over 100 countries are participating.

We need yearly Defense industry fairs instead of monthly unveilings !!!

People need to see defence products from the near & it's a better advertisement for sure ...
Also, foreign companies takes part in industry fairs...At least half of the companies attending to IDEF are foreign companies.....

It's funny....I vaguely remember, when father took me to the IDEF when i was a small kid. Almost nothing was Turkish made, it was a rather small fair in open air. ıt was in Ankara...now IDEF became 4th biggest defense industry fair in the world.

you are right, but iran cant take a part in those fairs because of our political situation. iran is under sanctions and we are in a cold war with west. so when sanctions lift up and we can trade well with others, things will be changed in coming years if tensions will be reduced. look at china in 2 ,3 decades ago or early time of soviet union after ww2, its a policy for countries who were against west and they faced same and also did same things.

The thing is, first day only protocol visit and journalists mainly focus on Turkish products..if i ever came across to Asian company products, i will post them for you.

There is probably a good reason why Iran doesn't let people near their products.

well there is another good reason .
several years ago we participated in another military fair and jealous companies from other countries feared they loose all the possible contracts as result they made several complaint and threatened that country (guess it was Malaysia or Indonesia) with court and breaching of some UN resolution as a result we had to close our booth there .
.

by the way if you want we are willing to sell you some weapon , what about some Anti Aircraft-Gun we sold Syria and they installed in Latakia ?

Screw them. Iran should have brought Qhaher-313 to IDEF. We wouldn't have minded it.

I will always support good relations with Iran, however, I urge the Iranian leadership to be careful when dealing with the crazed Neo-Ottomans currently in power, they would backstab you at the slightest opportunity.
