Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri (R) and Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa

The military chiefs of Iran and Pakistan have called on the Muslim world to take more concrete actions to end the violence against the persecuted Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar’s Rakhine state.

In a telephone conversation on Sunday, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri and Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa discussed cooperation between the two countries' armed forces to maintain security along border areas and also talked about the ongoing inhumane situation of Rohingya Muslims.

They said the measures taken to help Rohingya refugees were not enough, urging all military and non-military organizations in the Muslim world to mobilize their resources and facilities to speed up the dispatch of humanitarian aid to the Rohingya Muslims.

Myanmar’s forces have been attacking Rohingya Muslims and torching their villages in Rakhine state since October 2016. The attacks have seen a sharp rise since August 25, following a number of armed attacks on police and military posts in the troubled western state.

The United Nations said on Saturday that an estimated 409,000 Rohingya Muslims had fled the violence in Myanmar and crossed into neighboring Bangladesh, as Dhaka pleads for global help to cope with the humanitarian crisis.

The UN says over 400,000 desperate Rohingya Muslims have so far fled the violence in Myanmar and crossed into Bangladesh.

The latest figure came a day after the UN announced that some 391,000 Rohingya refugees had entered Bangladesh, showing a leap of 18,000 in a matter of a day. The exodus from the violence-wracked Rakhine state makes it one of the fastest growing refugee crises in recent years.

The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Morteza Salimi, said on Saturday that forty tons of Iran's relief aid had reached the Bangladesh's border with Myanmar.

Forty tons of Iran's humanitarian aid supplies have reached the Bangladesh border with Myanmar.

Salimi, who was on board the flight to the southeastern Bangladeshi city of Chittagong, announced before the flight that Iran was ready to send another 160 tons of aid for the fleeing Rohingya minority, and was also prepared to construct emergency camps for the refugees on the Bangladesh's border with Myanmar.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein had said earlier last week that "the situation [in Myanmar] seems a textbook example of ethnic cleansing."

So are they gonna send military? Or just send some aid?

For sure Turkey will not be far behind or Turkish chief may already had consultation with Pakistani and Iranian counterparts.

What is happening to the Rohingya is wrong, but I still think it is Myanmar's internal affairs.

Sam way we wouldn't want others to interfere in our internal affairs.

.
At least this shows that whole Muslim world is united in condemning this despicable act by Myanmar.

BD needs to use this opportunity to build military ties with countries like Iran who can make a whole range of defence equipment, especially on land. Since China may not resupply BD if there was a war with Myanmar, BD needs to start diversifying it's supplier base.

Genocide can never be internal affair of a country.

You would not think the same if you were in BD and witnessed the destruction of a whole group by a savage army.

I wish I could say the same but given that these Rohingya are leaving for other countries, kinda stops it from being their internal affair.

Current indian stooge BD regime will not do that. There is one other very noticeable thing, I will not utter that here.

Country like Pakistan, Iran and Turkey have leadership role to play. In that sense, Pakistan can play role while tackling domestic and near neighborhood issue. People like you (rare breed or Pakistani) will never get that.

why Bangladesh is not creating problem for burma by pushing millions of buddhist? If UN is not doing anything, threaten them with consequence of more refugee, then they may force Burmese animals to re consider their position on rohingya..
