'Iran-Iraq security agreement facilitating cooperation'
Tehran, IRNA - Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) says that the recent security agreement between Iran and Iraq is the result of months of the two sides’ negotiations and joint efforts as well as a roadmap for establishing stable security at the borders.
Ali Akbar Ahmadian made the remarks addressing a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Qassim al-Araji on Monday.
He described religious and civilizational commonalities between Iran and Iraq as a guarantee for deep relations.
He stressed the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported governments based on people’s determination.
We expect the Iraqi government to guarantee the security of the common borders with Iran as soon as possible, within the framework of the agreement and by ending the presence of anti-revolution elements in the country, he stated.
Meanwhile, al-Araji said that the Iraqi government and the national security body are determined to interact with Iran in all fields.
He emphasized Iraq’s commitment to the recent agreement with Iran
