I have a question for iranians here. In Europe you usually have to leave your hotel room until a certain time the day you leave the city. Mostly until 11 AM.

How does this work in Iran? The flights from Iran back to Italy are sometimes quite discomfortable. That means you would need to leave hotel but still have many hours to pass until your flight goes. I might be resend to Iran in November and would like to know how it works there?

Also maybe some of you know a high level hotel in tehran that is not direct in city near a super highway, calm, accepts mastercard.

Thank you in advance.

Hello Markus,

Credit cards don't work in Iran for obvious reason of all of them being provided by American corporations. However, Iranian banks do issue debit cards so if you don't want to carry cash with you, you can ask your branch in Tehran (which I assume will soon open or is already open) to get you one. With that you can pay for all your expenses.

If not Banke Meli and Banke Mellat have branches in Germany which you can use to get the debit cards there.

For the timing of handing over the key's of your room, it is the same process, except it is a bit later than what we have on this side of the world. If I'm not mistaken, you have until 2 PM to hand over your room.

For hotel recommendation, let me know where abouts in Tehran you are going to perform your business and I can recommend some hotels for you. It is a 17 million strong city, so you can't find anywhere that is not crowded. However, there are hotels that are not near highways.

And this time, if you have time, try some nice Persian Cuisine too. I can give you some recommendations as well.

Cheers,

Cuisine, you are giving it a different meaning altogether. :p:
One good reason why not to use auto correct.
LOL!!! I didn't notice that! Well who know he may find a nice Iranian cousin too!!

reminds me of this commercial"

Thank you. I know nothing specific yet just want to know in advance. If you let run evrything through the employer you can see nothing and are pretty limited. Last time i had no cash with me and nobody accepted cards. I wanted to buy something for my girl at a market but only had €. The guy accepted it but i think its not so easy for him to change that stuff. So tahnks for explaining me. Maybe its better to take some cash thats accepted there then.

For sure. You still need it to pay for taxi and other stuff. But as I mentioned most of the shops do have a POS that accepts Iranian's debit cards.

If you want to stay away from highways, I can recommend Hotel Homa which is in walking distance from one of Tehran's main square's with a lot of shopping and eating around.

Espinas and Laleh are also away from highways even though they are both in busy streets. But they are more central and better access to the center of Tehran.

Again depends on where abouts you are doing your business. Tehran is not like western cities that have a downtown for business hub. The businesses are scattered all over the place.

Thank you man. Well i dont have business. My employer sends me and it should be close to the airport then, because thats where my work is then. We have a central travel management who book hotel and evrything but i can make some suggestions and sometimes you are lucky and they do it. :P

Homa looks quite nice. What does homa mean? Is it this bird figure on Iran Airs tail? One guy told me so when we were there.

This is Homa?

Homa Hotel - Tehran

Its 60 minutes from airport

That laleh hotel is the one closest to airport right?

You're welcome.

Homa is a big bird like eagle that lives in Asia. You are correct, it is the same bird that is on the Iran Air planes:

Yes, That is Hotel Homa and that's its entrance.

And this is Laleh:

Which airport do you mean? Mehrabad or Emam Khomeini International Airport?

You need to use Chamran Highway to get to that airport. Laleh is closer to IKIA but timewise, and if you are not going during the rush hour, there isn't any meaningful time difference for your travel from either Homa or Laleh.

Haha! Don't worry. It will be fine. Iranians' hospitality is famous. Just let them know you are a foreigner and everything goes fine. They will help you.

If you went to Homa, here are some restaurants that are nearby and I recommend:

Tak Bonan Kebab in Shiraz Street (not recommended if you don't like greasy food, it is a traditional restaurant that processes the meat traditionally) It is within walking distance. My favorite.

Shandiz in Saba Blvd, Try boneless Shishlik. If you like meat, you'll love it.

And Nayeb in Vali Asr St. It has a variety of different Persian foods. Again I recommend it's Barg Chelokabab.

Hope you enjoy your stay.
