Iran hints at legal action against Pakistan over delayed gas pipeline

#PMNS is govt. of thugs and business man... so they want to make most out of long projects. and for same they made consortium with Sajan jandal , who will going to cover the Afghanistan region for TAPI and more often more than 60-70% of the project's will goes indirectly to this Steel Tycoons backed consortium. so where he will find more Cuts, that will be more feasible for him. and also his Saudi Affection will also not let him to negotiate on this project. As by IP, Baluchistan or KPK will also be benefited and that will reduce their dependence on Woods.. So its the time that Pakistan can negotiate with Iran on it with Best and cheap Gas rates,,,, should have to work on all mutual benefit projects,,like this or Qatar Gas etc...

Zardari's gift to incoming Mian Saab's govt. This was never on right from the word go. MOU was only signed near to the end of Zardari Govt's term, only to create nuisance for incoming admin. Btw..can Iran take legal actions against Pakistan based on MOU? I don't think any official agreements were signed between two countries for the gas pipeline!

Bhai har jaga apna manjan na baichne lag jaya karo. Topic on hand is Iran hints at legal action against Pakistan over delayed gas pipeline
Bro.. i was just being sarcastic. 8-)
All i meant was we need to take serious action since its bad on our part that we haven't start any construction on our side yet as per my info. We are wasting our time and money on useless projects like metro buses and roads. Our country is energy starved. We need energy more than roads, metro buses and highways. And such kind of energy projects are being delayed by our ignorance.

Iranians are unreliablie and by linking up your energy needs with them you are giving them a tap on your foreign policy...Something which would be very much a disaster for Pakistan...but this is more than a year old news..so work on pipe line has already started..rest assured we are paying Iranians for the gas..its not free..so customer first.or GTFO..
When any country sign contract, they also put penalty to make its binding . That's what PPP govt did, when they sign the contract. Now this contract is already been delayed. Contract is now mature and should be implemented under the terms and condition of contract. Penalties are due since last few years. Unfortunately , Pakistani are sincere with others, except Pakistan.

Oh, buying gas from Iran will mean giving up our foreign policy and I take it buying oil from Saudi Arabia means, we all go to heaven every time we start our car or motorcycle:angel:. Not to metion oil from Saudi arabia was and is free :alcoholic:.

Just like the Turkish IPP where government paid a lot of money for just parking of idle IPP without actually generating any power...PPP is riddled with corruption at every level..

Besides the political issues i.e. Arab pressure and Sanctions imposed by the West, the gas price that we were being offered from Iran was expensive and such agreement was in the Zardari tenure.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The TAPI pipeline will bring 3.2 billion Cubic Feet Gas per Day (BCFD) of gas to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India and with the current prices of Brent oil, Pakistan will get a rate of $5.7-6.2 per MMBTU,

Work on TAPI pipeline’s Pak segment to start in 2017

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have an agreement with Iran that we will buy gas for $15/ MMBTU. However, Turkmenistan is supplying gas to Japan at a rate of $4/ MMBTU,” he said.

Iran gas pipeline not in favour of Pakistan: report - Newspaper - DAWN.COM

So PPP screwed us over once again. Seriously does their incompetence know no limits?

It will take little while , let democracy flourish in Pakistan. Its exactly same, PMLn sign LNG contract with Qatar govt at very high price compared to existing market price. Even India is buying a very low price from Qatar. But.....corruption and kickbacks is problem in society. Alot more corruption stories....In rental powerplant scandal, Turkish company was also involve , but they played secured and left Pak with millions of dollar. Who Pakistan should blame ????

IP Pipeline will be completed in couple of years... Already work is going on with different name under CPEC and later only 50 KM pipeline need to be build to completed the whole IP Pipeline...
Later it will be extended to CHINA and INDIA.. And Pakistan will get a remittance of 2$ Billions every year.. It will be win win situation for all parties.... and no action will be taken against Pakistan
TAPI too will be much beneficial for Pakistan...

Sanctions will be lifted this week, or next week at most, and hopefully IP pipeline will go ahead at full speed after 2 countries reach an understanding on prices. I also hope we help to fund pipeline on Pakistan's side.

And to those who say you will be 'hostage' of Iran if you buy gus from it. That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard. Tens of countries are buying oil and gas and they are not hostage of anyone. And let's assume you buy from Qatar instead, well you will be hostage of a 800,000 nation. Or even worse, if you go on with TAPI only, you will be at mercy of random militant groups in Afghanistan, like ISIS which is trying to have a foothold there. I don't think blowing up the pipeline in Afghanistan's territory is the hardest thing to do.
Which one is safer? Buying gas through pipeline from your immediate neighbor or from a pipeline that passes through one of most volatile regions in the world?

If I was a decision maker in Pakistan, I would go for both options, and buy gas from both sources to secure energy supplies and decrease the risks in case for any reason one of the pipelines stops delivering gas to Pakistan. That's the wisest thing to do.

Iranian route is the safest no questions about it because there is no third country involved in that. TAPI no matter how cheap it is, is a disaster as long as Afghanistan remains in the hands of multiple factions and a threat of ISIS continue. However with Nawaz personal relations with Saudi Arabia, i doubt if this government is going to do anything on the issue even when the sanctions are lifted.

.
You check later but its an old news now. Iran fixed price at nearly 11-12 dollars whereas TAPI was 8-9 dollars. Its nothing new i read about it cople of years back. Also Gas price from iron has been bunched together with oil so in future they can charge us upto 15-20 dollars depending on oil prices. IP pipie line is like a pipe dream now. Iranians were trying to rip us off.

@Topic
Iran have very weak case here. Sanctions havnt been lifted yet and at the rate they are going i doubt anything will change in near future. There is no future for this pipe line.
All sanctions will be removed today.

We already provide electricity to Pakistan via Chabahar port.have we ever cut the power due to political differences?we can be a more trustworthy partner of Pakistan(remember Shah era) comparing to Arabs that have provided you nothing but religious madrasas.buy our gas, develop your Balouchestan.

Anyway Pakistan has to pay for delay penalties regardless of whatever it decides for continuation of project.
