TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's non-oil exports to 15 neighboring countries have exceeded $10.7 billion during the first five months of the Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2022-August 22, 2022), spokesman for Iran's Customs Administration announced.

Iran’s non-oil trade with its neighbors has had remarkable growth in terms of value and weight during the mentioned period, Rouhollah Latifi announced.
He elaborated on the country’s foreign trade by saying that 25.398 million tons of Iranian commodities with the value of $10.723 billion were exported to the 15 neighboring states, which shows a 27 percent increase compared with the preceding year.
Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Oman, and Azerbaijan as Iran’s first seven export destinations, followed by Russia, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Bahrain and Qatar.

I thought exports to Russia would be higher....recent weapons deals with Russia seem like barter deal i guess so that's not technically an export for hard cash.

The great surgery which remains is cutting all subsidies on fuel and energy (gas, electricity), and giving part of those subsidies directly to 50-75% of the population who belong to the lower income group.
This way the government could easily save massive 20-40 billion dollars a year. Billions will be saved on prevention of smuggling as well and good for environment as well (reduction of air pollution). Only a true non-corrupt, patriot with pair of heavy balls could start this surgery.

That would even save more billions of dollars.. combination of nuclear, wind, solar energy to provide the national grid and keeping gas and oil for exports (turning those in added value petrochemical products which sell 800-900 dollars per barrel instead of 100 per barrel for oil).

I dont think Iran has the funds to do a clean energy initiative. I think theyre more focused on their Ballistic missile force and military nuclear program

They ought to expand the nuclear program to 200,000 SWUs at least as a start and start supplying power to cities like Bushehr, Bandar Abbas and Yazd.

Once successful, it can be expanded gradually to 1 million SWUs.
