An Iranian Air Force F-5 fighter jet crashed on a training mission in the southwestern Khuzestan Province. The pilot was killed, while the co-pilot survived and was hospitalized.

The jet was flying a training mission when it crashed while trying to land on a runway at Dezful Air Base in the southwestern Khuzestan Province on Sunday, Iranian media reports.

The pilot, an Iranian colonel, died in the crash, the commander of Dezful’s police told Fars News Agency.

The co-pilot survived the incident, and was rushed to the hospital.

The spokesperson for the air base said that the jet suffered a “technical malfunction” while in flight, and commended the crew for managing to bring the plane to the runway, avoiding greater destruction.

F-5s were purchased during Shah era, and as general Azarbarzin said (top airforce commander in that era), these planes killed 17 Iranian pilots in that time (when were still new).

If it wasn't because of mullahs (for example khamenei), Bazargan's secular government would have sold the F14s after revolution, to complete the Bakhtiar's secular government effort of sabotaging the phoenix missiles (before the revolution!).

Mullahs don't define our defense strategy, but maybe you meant the current Pro-west mullah president, but he only wear their clothes, otherwise he is nothing less than seculars in Iran!

U.S lost three F5 variants during the past year (two T38 and one F5), too bad they don't have a mullah to be blamed by aviation experts!

Yeah these planes were introduced to IIAF half a century ago, They went through 8 years of war and several minor and major overhauls, And structural fatigue has already done it's job by now, So more overhauls, modernization, refurbishment and blah blah blah is not going to do them any good, They should be in a aircraft boneyard by now. So the reason for this crashes is nothing but the old age, Keep using these planes and these crashes are going to keep happening.
