Iran Charges Russia With Selling Out its Air Defense Secrets to Israel

So what do you propose muslims majority countries do about this?
They should just stop copying western weaponry like Missiles, Tanks, destroyers etc and just stick to horses, swords, bows and arrows etc.

. . . .
Israel? The most Israel can make is subsystem. Did the word Lavi tells you something? Do you know why Lavi project is killed? Not becos it is not a capable platform but becos US felt Lavi is a threat to F-16. They ban the export license of US engine for Lavi.

Even Merkava tank uses a German Engine. Dont get me wrong. Israel is a marvel country. For its size and population and yet they can accomplish so many things but there is a limit to what they can due to their small size. But that does not take away the credit from them. At the same time, you must admit the limitation of Israel.

I am not arrogant about all this thing and the fact only big power can make a whole combat unit and system but too many forumer cheaply claim about self made , thinking just dump a few million and anything is possible. If can't materialize, it must be corruption or the engineer too lazy or unpatriotic to complete the job. People dont realise how expensive and extensive it is too build a whole advance combat system based on your own abilities.
No one tries to recreate the wheel. If a subsystem exists on the shelve people use it. Be it a gun an engine or a clip. Your way of thinking that whole systems must be produced in-house is old. Saab grippen has US components. Levi was designed by many European engineers then design sold to China

Becos of limitation. Of cos the one who can't need to find an excuse. :enjoy:

its more about money we could get the engine from other source usa stop give us the money to develop and get on us presure to stop and it was not economicly to develop it also the david sling we develop with usa because money problem we caould do it alone same arrow 3 and ofcausre barak 8

Most tanks around the world use foreign engine, and it's true Israel only make stuff it think are affordable for profitable.
U.S made aircrafts with Israeli avionics are better for Israeli economy than making it's own fighter jets.
Politics too play a major part in the defense industries.
However, Israel defense industries should not be undermined, as they're major exporter in the field
one thing i know to develop with usa its not good think after that you cant sell

This is old, but is it true or fake news? Has it been discussed here?

Iran Charges Russia With Selling Out its Air Defense Secrets to Israel

The Islamic Republic says Russia sold codes to Israel that neutralize its air defenses.

An Iranian government official claimed earlier this week that its Russian-made air defenses were compromised by Moscow, leaving Iran and its allies defenseless against Israeli airstrikes. An engineer with Tehran's Ministry of Defense alleged that codes forcing anti-aircraft missiles to treat hostile Israeli fighters as friendly were sold to Tel Aviv, effectively neutralizing Syria and Iran's S-300 surface-to-air missile systems.

An Iranian official, described by the Jerusalem Post as a senior member of Iran's Defense Ministry, told the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida that Russia had sold "codes" to Israel that identified Israeli aircraft as friendly. The codes were used by Israel to prevent its aircraft from being targeted. Israel has flown dozens of air raids over Syria, and despite advanced air defenses, only the latest raid, flown last Friday, involved an actual missile launch.

The article doesn't say what the Iranians mean by "codes", but Tehran apparently means the Identify Friend or Foe codes that aircraft transmit to avoid being shot down by their own air defenses. The S-300 missile, an older surface-to-air missile similar to the American Patriot, was identified as the affected system. The S-300s not only would refuse to engage the Israeli planes, the report says, but also they wouldn't give notice that the planes had taken off from nearby Israel, giving Syrian troops time to prepare.

According to Al-Jarida, "Iranians and the Syrians suspected that Russia gave the codes for the air defense system to Israel and even refused the requests of Tehran and Damascus to check the codes." As the story goes, Iran managed to change the codes on its own supplied S-300 missile systems, then sent engineers to Syria to change the codes on unspecified Syrian air defense systems. The fact that the Syrian missiles finally launched after the codes were changed confirmed to the Iranians that Russia had thrown them under the bus.

Could there be any truth to the claims? It is unlikely that Russia would intentionally give IFF codes to the enemies of its allies, the Syrians and Iranians, and allow them to be bombed with impunity. Not only would that anger the Syrian government, it would also potentially endanger Russian troops operating in Syria. The simpler explanation is that Israeli radar jamming is very good and outmatches the older S-300 technology.

We'll soon find out whether there is anything to the Iranian allegations. If Israeli airstrikes into Syria stop, then there may be something to the claims. If there are more Israeli strikes in Syria and there are surface-to-air missile launches, it may be that the earlier missile launch was a one-off and that there was no transfer of codes.

Actually I've heard it about Tor m1 AD codes which was sold to Iran back in 2007 in return of Georgia israeli's drones' codes .... but S300 is something new ...

why dont you develop your own air defence?

. . . .
no it means the us owns it ..

Well, no. It is manufactured under license. That means Germany owns all those guns, but has given a license to the US to manufacture them in exchange for a royalty fee.

what is the range?

and atitude
Missile range is 300 km. Radar range 450 km.

Altitude unknown but expected to be 100,000+ ft considering recently a Sayyad-2 missile was revealed to have made an interception at 70 km range and 98,000 ft altitude, proving Iranian high altitude SAM capabilities.

.
So what is China's excuse for not being able to produce a decent engine for it's fighter aircraft.
You must be blind to believe western hype about China not able to produced engine for its engine.

The J-20 uses domestic engine.
Same as our Z-10 gunship
JH-7A fighter /bomber
JL-9G advance trainer

Our new launch Type055 destroyer uses domestic made gas turbine.
Same as nuclear submarine and Diesel electric submarine.

How many countries can do that?
