Hello there

I need to ask the iPhone users that have you updated to the the new iOS 8.3??
It so happened that one of my friend who updated to iOS 8.3 is having a lot of issues after the update, like me my friend also uses iphone-6. My friend was complaining that the new iOS is causing the battery to drain faster. I don't know if that's related to the update but that has surely made me skeptical about the new update.
So my issues 're
1) should I update to iOS 8.3?? Are any other iPhone users on the forum facing issues after the updates??
2) Have you ever skipped any of the updates?? If so does it effect the performance of your iphone when you make your next update (supposing I don't update to iOS 8.3 and update when I get iOS 8.3.1 notification, would it make any difference?)
I am asking you this because in last 2 years since I began using iPhone (first 4s and now 6) i 've never skipped any update.
But my friend and his complaints has made me panicky. :(

I am tagging a few iPhone users on this forum whom I know. Others can also answer my query.

Thanks!

I haven't updated to iOS 8.3 yet and now I'm scared to! :P

I have heard these sort of rumours in the past where new updates have a detrimental effect on your phone's performance but this seems limited to the older phones which are inherently less powerful, given iOS 8.3 would have been designed to work on the iPhone 6 I don't know how likely it would be that this update (a minor one at that) would have such a negative effect on your phone's performance.

Apart from the battery issues iOS 8.3 may cause apparently there are other issues being reported by this update:

Apple's iOS 8.3 update breaks Touch ID purchasing for some users (updated)

So there is the possibility that Apple bay bring out another update to fix the issues (if they exist) of this update in the near future so you can hold off on updating for a little while just to see what happens, this is what I did with iOS 8.1 which had a LOT of issues (apparently it was effectively still a beta) and Apple soon brought out another update to fix all these issues.

I don't think there are many downsides to not updating to iOS 8.3 right now if you have iOS 8.2 at the moment, maybe read:

I am a Nokia Lumia user!

Search on internet forums related to apple.

At least my Lumia updates don't cost me much. Also I heard that iOS was most vulnerable OS last year. I think they again need Microsoft's help.

Oh!
I didn't mean to scare you. :(

Then I guess I will wait for a few more days till I get more feedback on this. Do update me here if any of your friends face similar issues.

On the move right now. It's a busy weekend. So I came to pdf and posted my query.

Trust me when I say this "once an isheep always an iSheep". Just yesterday I was trying few things on note-3 and I realised iPhone6 is much easier to navigate....or may be I am just very used to my iPhone, I have been using iPhones(4s and now 6) since last 2-3 yrs. Its going to be a bit difficult for me to switch to an android or Microsoft mobile. Not ready yet!!
The biggest advantage of iPhone 6 is that it's feather weight. Gosh!! I feel as I am holding a dinosaur when I pick up my old iPhone or any android.

. .
I upgraded my iphone 6 plus to 8.3 and do not see any battery issue. The Appstore touchID issue was resolved after I rebooted the phone. Except for the new emojis I did not notice any other major difference good or bad. I might be mistaken or its just my wishful thinking but the screen responsiveness appears a little better.

Emoji is an app, how is it related to the iOS update?

Oh!!!
That's some good news, if so am definitely doing the update today.

Thanks!! :)

The default messaging app has a ton of new emojis now including ethinically diverse ones. I guess if you are using a separate app, it does not really matter.

Your are welcome and good luck with the update !!

My Lumia is also not heavy.
I was Android User. I have used Android device for 6 years. But I recently purchased this Lumia phone. At first, I got hurdles while trying to set it up for my needs. But now I am using it like this is my 4 years old phone. I think I can adopt to different things easily. You need to adopt to adopt too.. LOL

@levina

I have never skipped an update on an iOS device, & from what I gather, the only major issue with iOS 8.3 is that Touch ID supposedly malfunctions with iTunes, but I can't independently confirm it. As far as the battery life is concerned, those complaints show up with pretty much up any iOS update.

As such, I think it's somewhat safe to update & Apple will probably release iOS 8.3.1 soon enough to deal with whatever bugs show up. This is an endless cycle, & the decision is yours to make.

. .
No way to know unless you install it first...Most ppl don't have any problem. If you do encounter issue, downgrade to 8.2 as apple is still signing it.

I've updated my iOS just now, and my keyboard is freezing. Lets see how it responds after a restart.

Have you ever tried downgrading your iOS?

@levina - I haven't noticed any problems. There is a easy way to figure out which app is using up your battery. Go to Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage. It will tell you which app has used what percentage of battery life in the last 24 hours and in the last 7 days.
