This Is Why You Don't Want To Update Your Phone To iOS 8.0.1 | TechnoBuffalo

The launch and stability of iOS 8 hasn’t been what you’d call stellar. In fact, there have been a lot of issues with the software since it launched last week, prompting Apple to roll out an update just a week later. But that update, which was designed to fix a lot of the early issues, is actually Apple’s worst update yet. There doesn’t seem to be much issue with older iPhones, but it breaks TouchID and turns off your cell service on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The issue seems widespread, and we can confirm the new update did break TouchID, and also the ability to connect to a cellular network. Broken TouchID would be excusable—we can live without for a day or so. But not being able to make calls is huge. We hope Apple is scrambling to introduce an update for its update, otherwise the company has a bigger issue than bending phones on its hands.

The update has been pulled for now, so we can probably expect the fixed software to hit soon. Unfortunately you’ll need to revert to iOS 8 if you were one of the unlucky ones to update to the faulty iOS 8.0.1.
