Investing in Pakistani property, safe?

So I want to invest in Pakistan, but advised not to by almost everyone here. Their reason being is Kabza mafia. Since the mafia knows we're foreigners and have no time to fight a lenghty court battle about the ownership of property, they happily take over it. Plus if all else fail, they threaten to kidnap/kill if the owner visits Pakistan.


Is this true still? There is much to invest in and I rather not invest in something that is a complete worry.

When I lived in Pakistan, this guy who was building the house died. So these 2 families (pakhtoon) fought over ownership of dead man's land, saying it belonged to them. Funny thing is, the two were also distance relatives and neighbours.

I prefer to invest in peshawar/adjoining areas.

Their prices are already super high (since they're developed). Since I'm not living in Pakistan, I want long term investment. Something like investing in a place which is not very populated and 10-20 years forward, as shops, plazas, more homes are made and less available property is available, then sell for high price.

Prefer to buy acres of land for same price as I'd pay for few kanal of land in Bahria.

But question is, do land mafia exist as I hear it? Or it's something that is exxagerated?

ok to be safe i would not advice you to do that. The best option is defence housing society files, they are safe as it is the army who keeps records and they are video records. Files mean that the plot will develop in some time.. as in take years to mature.. some investments of 30 lac for example can give you a 5 times return in 10 years at times. I have nothing to do with property but this in my eyes is the safest investment for overseas Pakistanis.

Yes Land Mafia definitely exists, that is why invest in a reputable housing society. Invest in the new projects that are being built by DHA and Bahria Town. They are not expensive as they are new projects and very safe investments with high rates of return. Phase IX in DHA Lahore is a very good option and i would highly recommend it. The prices are already appreciating more than 14% annually.

Don't invest in Bahria Town. Your conscious shouldn't allow it. It was made by Riaz Malik, who made his haraam wealth by grabbing the lands of shia villagers in rural rawalpindi with the help of retired army generals. He also funds the lal masjid and SSP terror dens in pindi islamabad region as a recent report mentioned so that he can terrorize the shia villagers who don't sell their lands to him. If I had my way, I'd burn Bahria Town to the ground for it was built on stolen land.

Invest in DHA. In Peshawar, a DHA is also being built. Then there are these societies built exclusively for overseas Pakistanis, you can look at them.

Also, you know how there is no shortage of morally and financially corrupt Pakistanis right? They are present on PDF as well. Just saying.

the town is good... honest people i know live there... the issue is with the owner and well hopefully one day there will be no corruption and we will be able to get back money from so many different people.... this guy included

How do you know all of that, Is there a source you can mention? Not saying you're wrong but I did not know this about him. He seems to do a lot of charity work.

You're not from Pindi-Islamabad I can tell. He's rather infamous in that region.
