Intruder from Karachi exposes Paks ugly terror nexus.
Published: Monday, Oct 3, 2011, 12:00 IST
A Pakistani militant has nailed his governments lies by exposing the nexus between the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the Pakistani army and the ISI to train and push in infiltrators into Jammu and Kashmir for terror activities.
Nissar Ahmed of Karachi was arrested by the army when he was trying to sneak in through the Line of Control (LoC) at the Machil Sector in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. Ahmad was part of a 12-member terrorist group trained by personnel from the Pakistan Army and the ISI at a LeT facility in Manshera headed by Abdullah Shaheen.
After the initial training at Manshera, Ahmad said, the group was shifted to a LeT training camp at Jamgarh and thereafter, they were moved to a training camp near Kel Military Garrison opposite the Machil Sector, where they received intensive training in use of weapons and explosives.
Later, seven members of the group under Abu Talha were selected for infiltration into Kashmir through the Machil Sector. We were provided with arms, ammunition and other materials and moved to a launch pad in the vicinity of a Pakistan army post, Ahmad said.
A team of Pakistan Army and ISI officials briefed them before they tried to enter Kashmir. A defence spokesman said they were given enough money and foodstuff/eatables for their survival. While infiltrating, they had an encounter with the Indian Army and during the gun-battle he fell into a stream and surrendered after he was surrounded by the troops.
The arrest of the Pakistan national and LeT terrorist has exposed the nexus between the ISI, the Pakistan Army and terrorist outfits in training, arming and psychological indoctrination of Pakistani youth for infiltrating and carrying out acts of terror in Kashmir, said Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain, general officer commanding (GOC) 15 corps.
Lt Gen Hasnain said Ahmads arrest also highlighted the complicity of the ISI and the Pakistan Army in setting up terror infrastructure in the Pakistani hinterland and its occupied Kashmir to spread terror and disrupt the peace and harmony in Kashmir as a part of their overall Kashmir policy.
Official figures reveal that this year till June, there have been 52 attempts of infiltration by militants along the border in Jammu and Kashmir. For the last two years infiltration attempts from across the border have shown a marginal increase
In 2010, 489 militants attempted to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir while 485 militants tried to enter the state in 2009 and 342 militants in 2008.
