New Delhi: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has secured an Interpol Red Corner Notice against five accused persons, including two serving Pakistani Army majors, for their alleged role in the Mumbai terror strike of 2008.

The Interpol issued the Red Corner Notice after securing a non-bailable warrant from the court Additional Sessions Judge here.

The warrants were issued on the basis of disclosures made by American national and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist David Headley, who was extensively questioned by the NIA officials in June this year.

The Red Corner Notice has been issued against Major Sameer Ali, and Major Iqbal, both serving in the Pakistani Army, Illyas Kashmiri, a LeT terrorist, Sajid Majid and Syed Abdur Rehman

The security agencies have already secured Red Corner notice against Lashkar's founder Hafeez Sayeed and his close aide Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi in connection with the 26/11 attacks that left over 160 people dead.

These people, according to NIA officials, had worked in close coordination with Headley in executing the nefarious plans of the Lashkar for carrying out terror strikes in Mumbai.

Its a few minutes old.. Should be appearing in Pakistani media in next couple of hours. Since the transaction is between India and Interpol, it has been announced in India.

Lets just say till then we reserve our comments.

So whats next? What will be the outcome of this? First of all how will it be identified that the names given indeed belong to someone serving in the Pakistan army.

As a member of Interpol organisations , they will be asked to extradite the persons..

The names can be cross checked since they have provided photo and persons with such high profiles are easy to identify.

These 5 people now are designated as international fugitives. Not much of an action since Pakistan already knows where they are. A red corner notice is basically an international arrest warrant.

This is an outcome of the Headly affair where he named and identified 2 serving officers of Pakistani army. Just a little embarrasement. Dont think Pakistan will act on it ....

That way there is a pending Red Corner notice on Hafiz Saeed too. And he is just roaming free and chilling in Pakistan.. :)
