Interesting observations from senator Lindsay Graham

If Putin was antagonized he still made it a point to meet Biden in a summit

Afghanistan is just one issue for Putin. There are a number of issues it was advantageous for Putin to be seen meet Biden to address. The meeting also was shorter then expected. Which generally isn’t a good sign of seeing eye to eye on the issues. Putin also got a lot of mileage out of the meeting for his domestic audience. The worst thing for Russia is being no longer seen as a major power. Meeting in Geneva carried the imagery of a US-Soviet Summit meeting.

in grand scheme of things Afghanistan/Central Asia is a minor issue for Russia
allowing USA access to Afghanistan via Central Asia for anti-terror operations is minor item for both parties

Russia is under USA sanction and its ships had alleged exchange with NATO warships. All CA countries have rejected any USA bases. Reading the tea leaves....Russia does not want the USA in CA at all currently.

I only see this changing if a big terror attack occurs.

Lobbyist wont help. Biden is continuing the cold shouldering of Pakistani leaders that was unwritten policy during the Obama period. Its an incredibly awkward situation, IMO. Since Biden knows Pakistan is in the China camp but USA may need us for logistical reasons.
Pakistan put his cards on table it's up to Biden not Pakistan anymore

All the conflicts Russia has with USA is in the European theater
Afghanistan may be important for Pakistan. For most of the world it is a footnote

Musharraf was a big MF coward, who couldn't handle the pressure and intimidation. He was a disgrace to the ssg uniform.
Glad people ae seeing this yellow coward for what he was. Worse leader Pakistan has ever had - worse then even Zardari who would take 10%. Musharaf gave away Pakistan strategic interests and made Pakistan a rug for America.
For most of the world it is a footnote
20 years. 1,000s of dead soldiers dead. $100s of billions spent and you call that a footnote. You sure your okay?

.
What benefits did Musharraf in return received for Pakistan? Besides a couple of F-16 and handing over citizens to the West?

Let us say Musharraf is a solder not a negotiator

It is a footnote in grand scheme of history. Until the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979 won't you say Afghanistan was a marginal player in modern history ?

Afghanistan may not be a particularly important country but in a strange twist of history......it has become a land mine that takes down global powers. USSR went in a super power and left a spent force. USA went in as the unchallenged global hyper power and left with a narrow edge over China and arguably already overtaken.

Moscow and Beijing are probably both hoping the USA goes back into Afghanistan and pours trillions into pointless wars, IMO.

attention all the filth and scum of the PDF who is safely tucked away ensconced comfortably in the WEST:
Says the guy who wears two Union Jacks, at least my oath of undying fealty is for Pakistan and not for her Majesty.

had it not been for Gen Musharraf, at worst Pakistan would now be looking like Syria, Libya, Iraq and that there bastion of sharia Afghanistan or at best FATA would still be talibstan another sharia paradise where women were being dis-honored in middle of the road, where dead bodies wer being desecrated
They analyze challenge and difficult of past, living in the comfort of present without realizing, at that time, those who were responsible, took the best course of action. Now Every layman can draw random conclusion in 20/20 hindsight.

Pakistan is none of those countries. There is only 1 use of a nuclear weapons, that is they are 'deterrents', everything from the past 70 years of war has proven that, no major atomic power wars, not even NK is attacked etc etc, it is not hindsight, but empirical data.

Musharraf had no rational reason to capitulate, hence he was/is a coward. Pakistan ka jawan zindabad, weak generals can go to hell, my Pakistan is much bigger.

Their is a reason why the Chinese were upset the U.S. was leaving the country, those who come in expect to win ASAP and bail out with a victory, never expecting to be bogged down in that mountainous country. The country is a bear trap or as rightly you put it a land mine.

Are you saying USSR would have beaten USA in the cold war if they won in Afghanistan ?

It is obvious you have no clue about the history

Let us say 25,000 Americans died in WTC bombings. The American President threatens war unless you hand over the terrorist responsible. Musharraf did the obvious thing. It is not like Russia, China or Iran stood in the way of USA. No one is committing suicide for you.

Musharraf and Pakistani army was given numerous chances in the past to throw out OBL. They refused.
