INS Vikramaditya to be delivered at the end of 2013

2013 end is the new delivery date for the much delayed Russian-built aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov. In his address ahead of the Navy Day on December 4, Admiral DK Joshi said that the warship should be in the Indian Navy's flotilla.

"Amongst the overseas projects, there has been a delay in the delivery of Vikramaditya, which has sailed for more than 100 days in the recent past and completed a majority of her equipment and aviation trials. The revised schedule envisages the delivery of the ship in the last quarter of 2013," Admiral Joshi said.

Don't hold your breath. Something else will blow up to cause more delays. The Russians have done exceptionally well in baiting the Indians with a "free" ship, stringing them along, and had reeled in the big cash. Of course they kept more money by cutting corners with black market Chinese materials.

Change name of this Ship form Vikramaditya to DelayDitya . will suit it better . We can use Vikramaditya name on some Other Indian Navy Ship .

Better for India to buy for nothing a scrapped hull with no engine. Then refurbished it. The Aircraft carrier would have already been inducted in the Indian navy instead of always relying on Russia, Israel and now the US. Watch China, even with embargo and western prediction, that it would take China a decade before launching and landing a jet on the Liaoning, China has been able to launch its own aircraft carrier, make its own sea trial and launch and land its own fighter jet on it. This is the difference between a true superpower which means business and a paper superpower which has till now accomplised only shameful things.
