What's the reason for that high GDP ?

Basically, high GDP isn't always the same to high income of residents.
For example, an outside company invest for a high revenue : diamond, gold, high tech ... in an area, and sell their goods, services to outside.

For a population of 2 million, a revenue 20 billion could add 10,000 USD to GDP per capita.

An example, Samsung put their factories in Bac Ninh, the smallest province of Vietnam with pop. 1 million. but Samsung revenue 30 billion dollars. So ... GDP per capita of Bac Ninh would be added 30,000 dollars, beside Bac Ninh is a rich province excluded Samsung investment; and there're more factories who increase the GDP to Bac Ninh like Canon, Foxconn, Panasonic, Microsoft Mobile ...
So in GDP per capita scale, I could say GDP per capita of Bac Ninh province, Vietnam is over 50,000 USD. But it doesn't mean that's their income.

Yeah we know that Mongolia ( Inner and Outer ) is very rich in natural resources. One is spending much for outside need, and another isn't.

Love this

No, if you want to calculate GDP per capita, you must take all factors into consideration. revenue does not equal GDP output. you must minus the import, the cost of pre-products and services you need for your production.

For a population of 2 millions, a revenue of $20 billion means 10,000 USD to GDP per capita?
No, if you import $10 billion worth of goods, then you are only $5,000 per capita.

China took nearly 1 billion ton of coal from Inner Mongolia every year, to put into the whole country.
1 billion ton = 60 billion dollars. What Inner Mongolia benefit from that harvesting, .... a big GDP ?

Do you want PPP or nominal ?

Vietnam: GDP per capita - PPP 2014 : 5,621 $
