Initial report on war is ready-Army
The Army will hand over its first report tomorrow (24) in response to observations and recommendations made by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) with regards to the SL Army.
The report will be handed over to Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa tomorrow at the Ministry of Defence, army commander Jagath Jayasuriya said today.
Addressing the media at the army headquarters, the army chief said that some of the recommendations on Chapter 8 of the LLRC report were on war tactics and precautionary measures taken by the Army.
When LLRC final report was prepared, the Army Commander appointed a Board of Officers to study the report and to identity areas relevant to the Army. The Board of Officers was also tasked to formulate a viable Action Plan to address the specific areas so identified.
Lieutenant General Jayasuriya also stated that the report prepared by a Court of Inquiry to look in to the LLRC observations on casualties and deaths due to the activities of the armed forces would be handed over to the Defence Secretary in the near future as well.
