SUMMARY

JAKARTA, Dec 23 (Reuters) - Indonesia aims to export natural gas to Vietnam starting 2026 from the Tuna offshore block located near the Indonesian and Vietnamese maritime border, the country's energy minister said on Friday.

Southeast Asia's biggest economy may deliver 100 to 150 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas through a gas pipeline from the Tuna block operated by Harbour Energy, energy minister Arifin Tasrif told reporters.

The Tuna oilfield, with around 100 million barrels of oil equivalent, was discovered in April 2014, the company's website shows. (Reporting by Bernadette Christina, Editing by Louise Heavens)

The gas field is quite significant. Vietnam will get cheaper gas using pipe line than expensive LNG imported from Middle East

With the operation of the gas field inshaAllah in 2026, then the operator will have money to spend on finding other oil/ gas field on the sea around it. Just like in Andaman gas field, we get at least 2 big gas oil field found there which is not too far, AlhamduliLLAH.

Gas is cleaner than coal and is needed with fertilizer company while Vietnam has big agriculture sector, particularly rice

Vietnam can expand their fertilizer production, building it near the soar to reduce the cost building the pipe line.

Yes makes sense to build something there local however that will require huge investments. Probably in the future. Now the most cheapest way to extend the existing Vietnam gas pipelines to Indonesia gas fields. No problem at all we connect Vietnam oil pipeline system to Indonesia oil fields.

Nice, so there is already Vietnam gas field around it. Very reasonable to export it to Vietnam. I read some where Thailand also gets difficulty to secure their gas needs as their gas field production capacity is decreasing a lot with no new founding either

Indonesia has big LNG production site in Kalimantan (Borneo) island, operated by PT Pertamina. It is the nearest location of our LNG production, other big LNG producer is BP operated in Papua island, Tangguh Block

Is that Gas or oil pipeline for that NCS pipeline?

.
In the near future, Indonesia will likely build LNG production factory in Natuna island. There is already near international shipping route. The gas can be exported to every where, even to Europe.

Natuna sea will be much safer with the high present of Indonesian Armed Force there

NCS “nam con son” 1 and 2 are parts of southern pipeline systems for gas and liquid. There is crude oil pipelines planned to connect to Thailand and Malaysia however I don’t know when they will be realized. Probably after successful Eez negotiations. In the same manner with Indonesia.

Very reasonable to have gas pipe line that connect to Natuna sea. Many gas field operating in this area. Singapore also gets natural gas from 2 Indonesian sources, first in South Sumatra (operated by Medco Energy) and the second one in Natuna sea which is also operated by Indonesian national oil and gas company, Medco Energy. Second biggest energy company in Indonesia after Pertamina, but this is owned by private sector. They also operate gas/oil field in Thailand.

In the future, inshaAllah bigger gas field operation will be started as well, there Vietnam can get much gas if Vietnam wants it. As for Indonesia domestic gas needs, we AlhamduliLLAH have already had several big gas field project near our main industries in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi Island (Nickel based processing industry).

Tangguh train 3 will be operated in first semester 2023 (LNG) inshaAllah, located in Papua Island while in Java we have already started operation of Jimbaran Tiung Biru project, owned by Pertamina, gas pipeline connection construction is underway to connect it with new industry sites in Central Java and also to power plant owned by PLN, another SOE.

Here Indonesia has planned to expand its fertilizer production either. Having big fertilizer production and the ability to export it will make your country gets more leverage in international politics. The good relationship between Indonesia and South Korea for example make Indonesia export fertilizer to Korea during difficult situation of Russia-Ukraine war. Agricultural sectors beside crucial for nation strength, it employ many farmers as well, important for their security and domestic politics.

DUBAI (31/10) - The Indonesian state-owned company, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), is expanding opportunities for trade cooperation in Ammonia, Urea, NPK and other products by opening a representative office in Dubai City, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday, 31 October 2022 Through this expansion, Pupuk Indonesia hopes to further expand its trading business and gain wider access to raw materials and other industrial developments.

In his remarks, Deputy Minister I of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Pahala Nugraha Mansury, stated that Pupuk Indonesia as the largest fertilizer producer in Asia plays an important role in the world fertilizer trade. In 2022, Pupuk Indonesia is predicted to achieve a revenue value of USD 6 billion or a doubling in the last five years.

Pahala also mentioned that the opening of a representative office in Dubai by Pupuk Indonesia was a very strategic step because there were three initiatives being developed by Pupuk Indonesia going forward. “First is ensuring that they have operational advantages, including supply chain efficiency. The second is related to food security and optimization, where fertilizer is one of the key success factors to have better food security. Third, we also believe that Pupuk Indonesia can also become one of the producers of products related to a green and circular economy, such as through green ammonia, green hydrogen, or in the medium term including blue ammonia and blue hydrogen," said Pahala.

Also attending the launch was the Indonesian Consul General in Dubai, Kartika Candra Negara, who highlighted the close relations between Indonesia and the UAE. He said that “This launch is very timely. Why? Because we have seen that over the past three-five years, relations between Indonesia and the UAE have been increasing exponentially. We can see how trade relations, investment, other sectors, people to people contact, and cultural relations continue to increase," said Kartina Candra.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Bakir Pasaman, said that this representative office will carry out several roles, such as ensuring smooth and reliable communication with suppliers and partners, carrying out international marketing efforts for export trade, facilitating access to purchasing raw materials, especially raw materials. NPK, access to technology and manufacturing companies which generally have offices in the UAE, and in the future to support Pupuk Indonesia's trading business.

Pupuk Indonesia as one of the largest ammonia and urea producers in Asia, has more than 50 years of experience in producing and exporting ammonia and urea with the support of complete facilities and good product quality.

In 2021 alone, Pupuk Indonesia's urea export volume will reach around 2 million tons, while ammonia exports will reach 715 thousand tons. Not only urea, Pupuk Indonesia has various types of products such as NPK/NPS, and/or ZK which are also exported to a number of countries. "Especially with the UAE, we also buy a lot of sulfur, which is mostly produced by the UAE and is needed for the manufacture of sulfuric acid," added Bakir.

"So as directed by the Minister of SOEs so that Pupuk Indonesia goes global, we are expanding to get closer to the market, and are also looking for other business opportunities, especially in the field of commodity trading," Bakir explained when inaugurating the Pupuk Indonesia representative office at the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), Monday (31/10/2022). The establishment of this office, he added, can also increase cost efficiency and increase EBITDA uplift through business development by increasing sales on a Cost and Freight (CFR) and/or Cost Insurance Freight (CIF) basis. This can be done because Dubai is one of the hubs of the world's leading logistics companies.

Dubai itself was chosen because Dubai has a reputation as one of the best cities in the world for ease of doing business. The location is very strategic, between European countries such as Russia, Belarus, African countries, such as Morocco, Egypt and Asian countries, such as Jordan, India and China.

"In the future, we are targeting to scale up this representative office in Dubai to become a trading company that can provide an EBITDA uplift to the Pupuk Indonesia Group," said Bakir.

Vietnam probably needs more gas pipelines and gas processing plants. The current pipelines and plants are not big enough for the amount of Indonesia gas.
