MUMBAI

India’s single wealthiest individual, Mukesh Ambani, has come out in support of the ban on Pakistani artists working in India, saying, “I am absolutely clear about one thing – that for me it is always country first. I am not an intellectual so I don’t understand all these… But undoubtedly like for all Indians, India is first for me.”

Bollywood has been divided over whether to refuse work to Pakistani actors at a time when tension between Delhi and Islamabad has peaked to its very highest in over a decade.

On Monday, a group of cinema-owners said they would not screen any films featuring Pakistani artists. Because their ban applies to single screen cinemas in four states, trade analysts say there will be no large effect on Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” which releases on October 28 and features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

Producers of the film met with senior officers of the Mumbai police this morning and were assured of adequate security at cinemas that will screen the film in the city. Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has hinted at violent protests at theatres that will show the movie.

Yesterday, organisers of the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival dropped a Pakistani drama from its programme. The festival is sponsored in part by Mr Ambani’s new telecom enterprise, Reliance Jio. The Reliance Industries Chairman is a known film buff.

India accused Pakistan of being behing the attack on an army base in Uri, in Indian Occupied Kashmir, which had resulted in the death of 19 Indian soldiers. Pakistan has denied the allegations.

The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association, which represents a number of Hindi film industry employees, has passed a motion banning Pakistani artistes until relations between Delhi and Islamabad improve.

.
He is taking advantage of the situation and selling his words to gain more profit for the sake of his business

. .
Why does it give so much butt hurt to the Pakistanis if Indians of all hues except the dim wit intellectuals are coming out in support of ban of Pakistani film artists. I have not seen Indians reproducing articles here about Pakistan banning Indian movies. In fact none of us could care less if a Pakistani never hears an Indian song or watches an Indian movie ever.

.
On one side Pakistani members declare India as cheap enemy and on other side share a dozen links a day related to what Indians thinks about Pakistan or Pakistanis , ... no one even remembers that we banned Pakistani cricketers from IPL after Mumbai attacks and your actors are shame less that even after such treatment towards crickets they still come here to work

Misleading headline. What exactly did he say?

“I am absolutely clear about one thing – that for me it is always country first. I am not an intellectual so I don’t understand all these… But undoubtedly like for all Indians, India is first for me.”

He hasn't said a sentence, one way or the other. So now what, an Indian saying India comes first means he is supportive of some "ban"......?

.
Pakistani artists gets money according to contract 1 karor,2,3,etc etc.
They give profit to the film industry in billions.
Who is in losses? Artist or Industry?

.
This whole Uri attack drama is turning out to be one false flag only to Ban Pakistani artists, you could have just banned them and no one would have given any shit. Banning Pakistani artists seems such big a deal than what it seem like.

.
I am for more people to people contact with Pakistanis...how does Pakistani actors acting in Indian films or playing cricket with Pakistan is anti national? Now this is becoming childish. Indians are against Pakistani army and its government and not against Pakistani people.

What is there to kid? Of course there are articles about the ban in Indian media because they are discussing an act happening in India. My pointer though was to PDF where these two-penny articles are being quoted endlessly. Indians did not post any articles on PDF of Pakistanis banning Indian movies, at least none that I read.

Instead of whining, why don't Pakistani actors go to China to prove their acting prowess and earn millions from their. After all Pakistan and China viewers would be entertained!!
