Indians top the list of "Wanted" by Interpol August 29 2010
61151037-interpol-said.jpg

Interpol said Wednesday it has issued an international alert for a "dangerous escaped convict" and his fiancee

It is reported that about 650 Indians are on the "Wanted" list of Interpol for crimes committed outside India.

A red alert or red corner notice issed by Interpol casts an obligation on the part of immigration and police forces of all member countries for arresting the wanted person and for informing the authorities in his home country, or the country where the crime was committed.

Many of these wanted criminals are reported to have been involved in acts of terrorism or serious crimes like **** of a minor, etc.

The highest number of 150 red alerts were issued last year. 133 red alerts in 2007 and 119 red alerts in 2006 were issued by Interpol.

^^Lucky you... its an under reported news.
Can we have list of names?

. .
In 2008 (the latest year I could find statistics for), 3126 red notices were served by Interpol. Of these, 85 were Indians. That means that in 2008, 2.17% of people given red notices by Interpol were Indian. India has about 1.18 billion people, which is about 17.63% of the world's total population. You do the math, enough of this silliness. We all know Molawchai's true intentions in starting this thread.

@BATMAN- you can find their names on the Interpol's website. There's a link on the left hand side if I remember correctly.

"Under reported news" huh?

You know what else is under reported... the fact that there are 246 Pakistani nationals on that very same Interpol Wanted list --

Wanted - Result page

And that does not even include those fugitives who are of Pakistani origin.

By using the same standards, there are 353 Indian nationals on the Interpol Wanted fugitive list (the 600 figure includes people of Indian origin) --

Wanted - Result page

Now, compare the population of India and Pakistan and one would know which country has more fugitives on the Interpol Wanted list on a per capita basis.

Analyze how dirty you are before throwing mud at others.

Not surprising at all after you read this;

Since 1971, the incidence of **** in India has increased by a whopping 734%.:tdown:

Yes, that’s 734%. No typo here. (Source: National Crime Records Bureau)

You are making a fallacious assumption here.

The Indian media has grown by leaps and bounds. This has led to increased focus on crime. Many incidents of crime which went unreported earlier are now being highlight by the media. Also, with education, people are slowly becoming aware of their rights and all. So they are approaching police and the authorities more and more. It doesn't mean that crime has increased. It could very well mean that reporting of crime has increased (which reflects a society changing for the good). Overall, the assumption that crime has increased as drastically as illustrated in the table is misplaced.

@Molawchai,

Just because you have a bunch of numbers and data does not mean it is relevant. You forgot to mention (very conveniently) that all these statistics pertain to crimes committed in India. Interpol has nothing to do with those.........

Now this could be a grounds for derailing the thread off topic, but I am certain that "Mods" are sympathetic to your POV so you'll get a free pass.

How about we discuss the exploitation of women in Thailand....... oh wait...... I guess it is officially called "The Tourism Industry" over there;)
