Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria on Sunday said that an Indian woman ─ married to a Pakistani man ─ who 'went missing' from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad last week is 'stranded' inside the building.

Uzma, an Indian national, met Tahir Ali, a resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the latter was working as a taxi driver in Malaysia eight months ago, according to a request for help lodged at Islamabad's Secretariat Police Station by Ali.

The two contracted a court marriage on May 3 in Buner, two days after Uzma arrived in Pakistan via the Wagah border.

After the couple tied the knot, Uzma called her brother in New Delhi to relay the news to him. Her brother asked her to visit India on her honeymoon and told her she could find a man named Adnan at the Indian embassy who would be able to sort out their visas for the trip, Ali alleged.

In his request, Ali claimed, "At the Indian embassy window, she asked about Adnan. A while later, a man came out and took her inside through gate number six. I waited and waited, and then at 7pm I asked at the embassy gate if my wife Uzma was inside. They told me no one was inside."

He added that he then returned to the main gate on a shuttle bus, and noted that none of the three phones surrendered to the embassy by the couple at the time of entrance were returned to him, and his wife also remained missing.

The man asked the police to help him resolve the matter.

The FO said the Indian High Commission confirmed to police and the media that the woman is present inside the building but would only be let go after the matter is discussed with the FO.

Secretariat Police Station House Officer Hakim Khan confirmed he had contacted the diplomatic mission, but officials denied speaking to police, saying they would only speak to the FO.

The FO added that it is in contact with the Indian High Commission, and the issue would be resolved soon.

I bet they think she's an agent lmao

Jokes apart hope she's ok and they find her

Now it's an internal matter of Muslims, dont drag India here.

We should not allow those who marry Pakistani people into our country.

She's now a pakistani and i am sure For her Pakistan comes First. I am happy for her but i dont consider her I dian anymore, even if she holds passport like Sania.

No one cares what you think anyway. Her ethnicity is her ethnicity.

why? many indians marry foreigners does it mean they no longer remain indians?

PeopLe do care, i guess u dont have any idea about what i am and walhat i do here.... and i represent voice of the Majority. He ethnicity is Muslim since speaking agains Islam is considered Racist.

I guess my fello countrymen @SarthakGanguly will join this discussion as well.

There are Muslims in India too, but her Marrying another Man of a different nationality doesn't change her ethnicity. She is still Indian. Not Pakistani.

Describe "Indian" ethnicity madam. It it Indo Aryan ? If yes, tn half of India and 75% pakistan is related.

nationality is different from ethnicity. punjabis are related to each other closely but still both cuth eachother like cabbages in wars.

When girls marry here, they adopt everything from their husbands family (Caste, durname, traditionals and culture) also Nationality. You are free to visit India and ask to ordinarily Indians "do you think that sania is pakistani ?" I best 90%+ will say yes.

Why are u fighting? You should he happy that your country is represented by one of the best Tennis Player. :)

What are you on about? She's an Indian national, you can't change facts. Sania Mirza is an Indian National and no one can change that.

It's like how some Brits wanted to strip Assad's Wife of her nationality since she's British born but the English Gov clearly said that unless 'treason committed' she still is liable and rightful holder of it.

Facts can't be changed. She's Indian Married to a Pakistani and living in Pakistan.

That's that.

Because if i marry a pakistani girl, she will become one of "US".
ahh deadly combination of Pakistani and Indian makes you United States . wonderful.
btw if it makes her one of you then why Indian government still does not agree with your definition and concept??

Is that the same for Sania Mirza?, understand where your passion lies, at the end of the day, she is still an Indian, irrespective of current situation. She should be treated with dignity and respect as a women should be.

If she decides to give up her citizen and take up Pakistani citizen, then your logic can apply here.
