As multiple pdf-ers have alluded to, profiteering during a pandemic may well be an important consideration for some nations. Ethical considerations of pandemic profiteering aside, is there any justification for beating one's chest over income projections for exported vaccines while one's own population is lagging behind severely in terms of vaccinations per capita?

Yes as already pointed out India only started vaccinating 1 week ago.

All vaccine rollouts start slow at first and then ramp up.

Taking that Indian vaccine out of the equation, that has not been properly tested, India has stockpiled 50 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and so has plenty to get going on its vaccination programme.

With the low Infection rate and the death rate also around 150 , the government is giving a back to normalcy order throughout India . Ppl have stopped wearing masks in the market. Scary.
If the uk variant makes major ingress into India, last year could be repeated.
The biggest problem is that the efficacy of any of the vaccines is not proven . Not only against the old variant but also against the new variants.
Maybe India needs to forget the grand gestures and just concentrate on getting the vulnerable Indians vaccinated first. Unfortunately the vulnerable are in the plus 50 category and the vaccines are proving fatal to them as being seen in Europe. No real solutions.

What's this thread got to do with Pakistan?

I'm comparing India with other vaccine producer nations. I'm suggesting you have to catch up on multiple issues: actually vaccinating your own people, not to mention validation of the Bharat vaccine (but that's another thread).

We haven't produced a vaccine on massive scale and gifted it to Bhutan without securing our own vaccination pathway first.

How about I guarantee you that the day we become vaccine producers, we won't be so stupid as to join our hands together and take self-declared plaudits for giving vaccines to others before sorting our own mess out?

As I said, I sincerely hope India succeeds because the fate of everything below the Himalayas is unfortunately intertwined with yours.

India is in a very tough spot. It is a corona superspreader of the Subcontinent. It has a daunting task to vaccinate so many people. It is not nearly as organised as China. Additionally it has no proper vaccine. The vaccine is not tested. We don't know the effectiveness and duration of this vaccine. On the contrary my dear fellow! I claimed India has not vaccinated enough people, nor am I confident it will achieve the rate of vaccinations seen elsewhere. I even stated that India has a huge stockpile of vaccines. Anyway, we could bicker all day. Let's wait and see.
