Indian suffers heart attack on flight; Pakistan allows emergency landing - The Times of India

KARACHI/NEW DELHI: In a humane gesture, Pakistan facilitated the emergency landing of an international airline in Karachi after an Indian passenger on board suffered a heart-attack and needed emergency medical care.
75-year-old Vasan Bondol was on-board a Turkish Airline flight from Istanbul, Turkey to Mumbai when he had an heart-attack on July 6.

Following request by the flight captain, Pakistani authorities allowed the flight to land at the Karachi international airport.

Acting swiftly, the airport authorities rushed the Indian passenger to Agha Khan Hospital in the country's largest port city, Pakistani official sources said.

Bondol's son Jayant today approached the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi for an emergency visa to visit his father in Karachi and to take care of him.

"Responding fast we have given him the visa today itself so that he could visit his father and take care of him", an official at the high commission said in New Delhi.

We need more such gestures from both sides to overcome the hate facilitated by establishments over the decades and to pave the way for a fruitful dialogue on kashmiri's rights to self determination.

India is ever ready is waiting for the implementation of UN pleas, vacate and hand over Kashmir under your control then only we can have the plebiscite as desired by the UN.

Don't take a heart attack situation to J&K.

Pak did well like any other nation would have in a situation like this.

We do need CBMs & should not have to wait for heart attacks to initiate them.

it helps especially that it was a Turkish Airlines flight as anything Turkish is well received in Pakistan

as for the passenger - regardless of who he is, it's proper thing (and standard protocol) to allow the aircraft to land in such an emergency; if other measures (e.g. onboard defibrillator) fail

glad he's receiving a good health care and hopefully will be sent on his way soon

Lol, the headline was twisted in a great way!

A Turkish Airlines aircraft squawked a emergency code and was given priority landing. Where does India come in here?
