Srinagar: In one of the longest encounters in the outskirts of Srinagar, two terrorists were neutralised on Saturday by security forces, while one terrorist, who is believed to be from Pakistan, was killed on Sunday morning.
A senior police official told MyNation that the terrorists, who were hiding, opened fire; and it was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter in the area.
The encounter broke out on Saturday evening when a joint team of the Indian Army's 5 RR, SOG, and the CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Mujgund, following inputs about the presence of two-three terrorists in the area.
Sources told MyNation that among the three terrorists killed, was a newly-recruited local youth, whose mistake led the security forces to a major success in Kashmir.
"He shared his location with some locals and this led to successful operation in the outskirts of Srinagar", they added.
Last month, Indian Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat said, "To felicitate terrorism, Pakistan is recruiting young, untrained boys into terrorism who hardly last minutes against the might of the Indian Army".
Security forces have gunned down three terrorists, whereas five jawans of security forces have received injuries in the Encounter at Mujgund area on Srinagar-Bandipora road on Saturday.
Sources told MyNation that all the killed terrorists are from terror outfits Lashkar-e-Toiba. Two of the killed were locals while one was a Pakistani terrorist.
Battling for their existence in Kashmir with no scope of infiltration through the Line of Control as the alert Indian Army mans the borders, terror outfits in the Valley have restored to massive local youth recruitment into terrorism. But this move of terror outfits is proving to be suicidal, as the newly-trained terrorists hardly stand a chance against the might of the Indian Army.
Following stone pelting and clashes in the area, internet services have been snapped. The district administration has also imposed CrPC 144 in the area (Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code empowers an executive magistrate to prohibit an assembly of more than four persons in an area) as a precautionary measure.
