NEW DELHI: An Army soldier was martyred while another was critically injured as Pakistan violated ceasefire on Saturday by shelling mortars and firing on forward posts along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Army retaliated strongly to the ceasefire violation.

In the exchange of fire, Nb Sub Jagram Singh Tomar was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries.

"One jawan was martyred, and another one was critically injured during ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops," a senior Army official said.

"Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling and firing on forward posts along the LoC in Poonch district from around 6:30pm," he said.

This is the second ceasefire violation from Pakistan side on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, a civilian was killed after Pakistan resorted to shelling in Mendhar sector in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district

The two armies have repeatedly exchanged heavy fire this summer along the winding LoC that has left many soldiers and civilians dead on both sides.
India had summoned Pakistan High Commission official Tariq Karim on August 9 and issued a demarche "lodging strong protest" over the death of an Indian soldier in unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Krishna Ghati sector the previous day, terming it as "deplorable".

Despite repeated calls for restraint and call to adhere to the ceasefire understanding of 2003 for maintaining peace and tranquillity, Pakistan forces have carried out 301 incidents of unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC this year, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

recovering from head shot is not easy. in such cases most chances are deaths in any stage of series of operations.
only miracle can save him.

A bharati was saying that he survived due to his helmet.

Anyways who cares. I am good with the fact that my soldiers are answering every act of aggression.
they are just making themselves happy.
I can bet on the fact that he won't last for more than two months. helmets can't stop a sniper bullet. seriously injured means he is in coma.

meanwhile one more Indian soldier got injured in a mine blast on LOC.
